Last month Forbes(福布斯)putout a list of the world’s fastest growing cities over the next years. Among the 19 cities on the list , four of them are in China. They are :Chengdu, Chongqing, Suzhou, and Nanjing. Why did the Forbes choose the four Chinese cities? These are the reasons given:
Chengdu is a big city in western China. It’s a business-friendly city. Many world-famous companies are starting business there. With a population(人口) of six million, Chengdu is busy with new construction(建设). New planes, roads and railways connect the city with other cities in China and with the rest of the world.
People can travel from Chongqing to other cities easily in China. Many foreign companies have set up business in Chongqing. The city’s GDP grows fast, and so does its population. Experts(专家)say the population should grow from 9 million to 11 million by 2015.
Suzhou is 120 km from Shanghai, a major business centre in China. Suzhou benefits(获益) from Shanghai’s growth. Suzhou’s beauty and history draw(吸引) tourists from around the world. Some reports say Suzhou may already be the richest city in China.
Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu Province. It sits only240 km from Shanghai. It’s building big transportation projects around the city. Its service industry(服务业) grows very fast.
