I noticed something unusual in the parking lot as I turned off one of the main roads in my town the other day.
There’s a wide grassy land in front of their parking lot, where people often put up announcing their yard on sale. That’s what was happening that day, but the sight me was worthy of a double take. When I saw it, I hesitated for a moment before reacting to it. I made sure finally that I really saw a man in a suit was a sign into the ground and a homeless man in ragged clothing was the sign while he hammered.
I was by how the two men looked so exactly : One was wearing a soldier suit, snowy white shirt and matched tie, but the other was wearing , mismatched clothing, with uncombed hair waving in the wind. And then the humanity of the moment hit me. So many times we homeless people and all we see is just homeless people. But on that day, I saw the kindness of a man who walked over to help while he hammered his sign into the ground. The moment really me, and it was a fresh reminder to look the outward appearance and see the person instead.
A friend and I had the a few years ago to write a study guide to a book. It’s an amazing book. That was evident from the first page when I read the dedication (题词) and it , “To Titus, who taught me to cheer for humanity.”
Wow, more of us did that? Can you imagine a it would make in our world? In one of the chapters, Sammy tells about sitting in large crowds at places, like shops and airports, and for humanity. It does things. Just imagine an old lady down the street becomes a wounded soul, who just needs someone to her and a homeless person on the street becomes a real person, someone who needs concern and a helping hand.
