In a world where comparisons happen non-stop, it is difficult to look outside yourself and to ever be   36   with who you are. There’s always someone who’s a bit   37  . The only solution is to reach   38   and measure against what Warren Buffett calls your own inner yardstick. There is no more   39   measure for comparison than who your were yesterday, last week or last decade, when you were at your   40  .
Nothing useful ever comes from comparison to others. Either you see yourself as better than someone and you get   41  , or you see someone else as better than you and you feel like all your hard work is for   42  . It is a fool’s game. Not one of us is exactly   43  . The only direct and honest comparison is   44   yourself. Everything else is apples to oranges.
My opinion is that you are only   45   to compare yourself to someone else if their life  46   is the same as your own. Good luck finding that   47  . And one thing is for sure. No matter how hard you work and how dedicated you are, there will always be someone who can run a little faster, jump a little higher, score a little better or look a little nicer in a swimsuit. And if there’s not, you can   48   someone is coming up fast   49   you. So how can you always win in life? Become your best   50  .
Having an image of your most recent past limits is the perfect thing to   51   you to the next level. If you ran 7 flights of stairs yesterday, then do 8 today. Who   52   if the guy next to you did 15? It doesn’t make a bit of   53  . You are a more   54   person today than you were yesterday. Your own   55   is all you need.

I have always been an independent person, but I have come to know that being independent does not mean refusing help. I may still be   16   with asking for help, but I try to accept. Furthermore, I will even   17   help and when my offers are refused, I am   18   willing to walk away. And all these changes came from a disaster on an island.
Sometimes a person’s independence is a   19   of pride, daring, stubbornness and luck. I used to be too   20   since I was little. I was once a traveler who never asked for   21  , choosing instead to struggle with maps and signs until I found my way.

Relationships are hard. It doesn't matter whether it is a relationship      two workmates, a doctor and a patient, a mother and her child or a couple. The fact is,      it  is a relationship involving people, there will always be conflicts once in a while because       human beings are complicated(复杂的).
I guess even in the animal kingdom there are complications, too. For instance, just last weekend l thought my neighbor's cows were      .They like standing outside our gate where there is a huge tree they use to        themselves from the burning sun. Anyway, it was quite         that the grey cow was angry about something and since I didn't      “cows", I couldn't tell what she was complaining about. My guess was that one of the other cows had done/said something to   . her because there was one cow she kept ”addressing".
I guess this goes to     tat as long as one is breathing (man or animal), misunderstandings and       .will always happen, regardless of whether it is at home or at the office, until one is finally
The         is how you handle your displeasure. How do you conduct your arguments? What words do you use7 After the argument, do you ever sit back and probably      anything that you might have said in anger? I ask this        I know for a fact that when you are angry, the likelihood of having the best       you'll ever regret is very high. The words you speak to someone can either build them up, or break them down, or start
a       in their heart or put it out completely. That is how       words are. Words have the power to      or destroy.
If you do not want to hurt those you come into     with, remember to be careful with your words because once they are        ,they can only be forgiven, not forgotten。

My friend BJ Gallagher once worked as a training manager for a large newspaper, which was more than a hundred years old.The company’s past    had blinded the authorities to the need for change, and they    new ideas and would say “This is the way we’ve always done it.”.As the years went by, BJ grew more and more    with their short-sightedness.Finally, she left the company. But she found that she hadn’t left her    behind when she resigned. She carried it with her, like “rocks in the stomach”.
“I finally decided to    about my experiences and my feelings.I   it would be a good mental health       .I wanted to be rid of that company and those people, once and for all.So I wrote and wrote. It wasn’t just a story that poured out — it was a whole    ! My resentment (怨恨)    my writing. The whole world would know how    they were!”
“What   when the book came out?” I asked BJ.
“Not much,” she replied, “The newspaper kept doing what it had    done.My feelings didn’t    them one bit, but it took me several more years to finally   my negative emotions. Finally, the time came when I decided to make amends (修正) for the angry things I had said about the company.I    my former boss to dinner and made my    .I told him I was sorry for being so resentful. It was    a great healing process for me.”
“What was the    outcome?” I asked her.
“Gratitude,” she replied, “Not only wasn’t I resentful any more, but I was grateful to the company. If I hadn’t had those    experiences, I never would have written a book. And the book became hugely successful — now    in 21 languages. In short, my resentment gave way to gratitude.”
She smiled, “I owe them a debt of thanks for giving me such a great tale to tell.”
Trading resentments for gratitude isn’t always easy. But it’s worth it,       gratitude is a far happier feeling than resentment.

Everyone in business has been told that success is all about attracting and retaining (留住) customers. It sounds simple and achievable. But,         , words of wisdom are soon forgotten. Once companies have attracted customers they often          the second half of the story. In the excitement of beating off the competition, negotiating prices, securing orders, and delivering the product, managers tend to become carried away. They forget what they regard as the boring side of business—        that the customer remains a customer.
to concentrate on retaining as well as attracting customers costs business huge amounts of money annually. It has been estimated that the average company loses between 10 and 30 per cent of its customers every years. In constantly changing    , this is not surprising. What is surprising is the fact that few companies have any idea how many customers they have lost.
Only now are organizations beginning to wake up to those lost opportunities and calculate the            implications. Cutting down the number of customers a company loses can make a big           in its performance. Research in the US found that a five per cent decrease in the number of defecting (流失的) customers led to       increases of between 25 and 85 per cent.
In the US, Domino’s Pizza estimates that a regular customer is worth more than $5,000 over ten years. A customer who receives a poor quality product or service on their first visit and          never returns, is losing the company thousands of dollars in        profits (more if you consider how many people they are likely to tell about their bad experience).
The logic behind cultivating customer         is impossible to deny. “In practice most companies’ marketing effort is focused on getting customers, with little attention paid to       them”, says Adrian Payne of Cornfield University’ School of Management. “Research suggests that there is a close relationship between retaining customers and making profits.        customers tend to buy more, are predictable and usually cost less to service than new customers. Furthermore, they tend to be less price           , and may provide free word-of-mouth advertising. Retaining customers also makes it          for competitors to enter a market or increase their share of a market.

Paul understood that and never            me. But, by summer, we got married. A year later, we used his saving, and the money from the sale of Mom’s house, to build our own          .
We want to give our guests a             feel, so each room is themed (以……为题) around memories from our lives. There are also styles to remind me of Mom—a tiny chair which           be in her bedroom is set in one room.
We are having a wonderful life and Mum             naturally part of it,            there’s no way we would be here if it wasn’t for the             she gave me. I know she’s here in spirit, keeping an eye on us.

Dear son,
The day that you see me old and I am already not in good health, have patience and try to understand me.
If I get dirty when eating, if I can not dress, have patience and remember the hours I   31   teaching it to you. If, when I speak to you, I   32   the same things thousand and one times, do not   33   me, listen to me. When you were small, I had to read to you thousand and one times the same story   34   you got to sleep. When I do not want to have a   35   , neither shame me nor scold me. Remember when I had to chase you with thousand excuses I   36   , in order that you wanted to bathe. When you see my   37   little about new technologies, give me the necessary time and do not look at me with your mocking(嘲弄) smile. I taught you   38   to do so many things: to eat food, to dress well, to confront life…. When at some moment I lose the memory or the   39   of our conversation, let me have the necessary time to remember, and if I cannot do it, do not become nervous, as the most important thing is not our conversation but surely to be with you and to have you   40   to me.
If ever I do not want to eat, do not force me. I know well   41   I need to and when not. When my   42   legs do not allow me to walk, give me your   43   , the same way I did when you gave your first   44   . And when someday I say to you that I do not want to   45   any more ---- that I want to rest forever, do not get ___46__. Someday you will understand.
Try to understand that my age is not lived but survived. Some day you will discover that, despite my mistakes, I always wanted the   47   thing for you and that I tried to prepare the way for you. You must not feel sad, angry or impotent(无可奈何) for seeing me   48   you. You must be next to me, try to understand me and to help me as I did it when you   49   living. Help me to walk, help me to end my way with love and  50   . I will pay you by a smile and by the immense love I have had always for you.
I love you, Son
