What are the basic elements of good manners? Certainly a strong sense of justice is one; courtesy (谦恭) is often more than a highly developed sense of play.A friend of mine once told me about a time when he was driving along a narrow, unpaved mountain road. was another car that produced clouds of , and it was a long way to the nearest highway.Suddenly, at a wider place, the car ahead off the road. that its owner might have engine trouble, my friend stopped and asked if anything was wrong.“ ,” said the other driver, “but you’ve borne my dust this far, I’ll with yours the rest of the way.”
Another element of courtesy is empathy (善解人意), a that enables a person to see into the mind or heart of someone else, to understand the pain or there and to do something to it.A man dinning with his girlfriend in a restaurant was trying to open the cap of a beer bottle, but he couldn’t do it because of badly injured .He asked a young busboy to help him.The boy took the bottle, turned his back momentarily and loosened the cap without difficulty. Then he it again.Turning back to the man, he to make great efforts to open the bottle without success. Finally, he took it into the kitchen and returned shortly, saying that he had to loosen it—but only with a special tool.
another element of politeness is the ability to treat all people , in spite of all status or importance. when you have doubts about some people, act as if they are worthy of your best manners. You may also be to find out what they really are.

Someone recently asked me when I became more confident about my abilities as an entrepreneur. I thought it was a funny question, ____ I’ not very confident at all, and constantly filled with _____ about every decision I make.
It doesn’t exactly hold me back in my work; it’s just that I am very _______ of what I do, and I’m always _____ on the way I work, think and talk. I have also learned over the years that making a decision is often more important than making the _______ decision. Preferably your decisions are the right ones, but inaction or indecisiveness is more _____ than making the wrong decisions every now and then.
There is one thing I have learned over the years that I wish I had learned earlier in my career. And that is the ____ that I am not stupid.
It sounds logical, but I often sat in on meetings and heard people explain things and then ____ to myself, “ I don’t understand that. Maybe I’m stupid?” or I would hear about a startup and I wouldn’t ______ their business model and think I’m stupid. Or I would hear an entrepreneur speak and think, “ That all like ______ bullshit, but I must be stupid, because other people seem to love it.”
A couple of years ago, I came to the ______ that I was not stupid at all. When people in meetings say things I don’t’ understand I _______ up and tell them so. Usually, I hear a sigh of ______ in the room and find out nobody understood what was being talked about.
When I don’t understand a business model it usually means there is not one, or it ______. Turns out I’m not stupid and ______ I don’t understand it, most people won’t understand it at all. ______ doubting my own abilities I’ve learned to ______ my “bullshit radar” a bit more and not understanding something is a clear sign that something is _______.
My advice to young entrepreneurs is this: you are not stupid! If something does not make _____, if it sounds stupid, if you don’t understand it, something is wrong! Trust your gut( 本能的) ______. Feel free not to know and be honest when you don’t’ understand something!

If you have ever driven in the mountains on a cool autumn morning, then you know what fog is. Today I just drove right into a of fog. I quickly slowed down and my headlights. Seeing the road ahead was a . I felt as if I had been transported into a shadow world. Everywhere I looked was only dark grayness. Even the trees lining the road had become frightening, me of some frightening stories. I drove on and on through the waves of dark and wondered if it would end.
After a while, though, the sun broke through the fog and the world was transformed. The golden light beams the landscape. The red and yellow leaves shone on the . The river along the road shone in the sunshine. Everything seemed full of and joy again. I smiled and drove, singing a song in my heart. I thanked God for both the sunshine and the , because he reminded me again of just how this world can be. In our lives the fog can roll in sometimes too. Things can go . Problems can appear.
Difficulties, pains and troubles can seem to us and block out all the light in our life.
When this happens and the world seems in gray, we need to remember that we can break through the fog. We can the shadows away with love. We can transform the world with our joy. We also can light a way through the dark for others to follow. God is willing to our souls with his love and light. All he asks is that we share their shine. May all of your foggy days be then. May your soul shine brightly. And may you forever struggle to live in God’s light.

I Was Forced to Find My Gifts
I was a pretty typical 17-year-old with a strong interest in painting when something happened. One Sunday, I went to an old swimming hole and dove in. I something under the water head-on and broke a couple of vertebrae(椎骨)of my neck.
For five months I stayed at the hospital, feeling like a to my family. My self-image was instantly . I was described with terms like “disabled” or “crippled.” I was angry and
after I failed so many times at some task---dropping something on the floor and trying to get it back up again.
Near the end of my stay in the hospital, my doctor almost forcibly tied a to my hand. He had seen my paintings I’d done before and me to paint. Fortunately, I found that I
had this artistic ability left. It was like a big weight had been . At least I could do something worthwhile again, and it became a part of my recovery.
After I left the hospital, I stayed at home, feeling desperately . It seemed like I was cut off from . No one can get along love and acceptance. So that fall, I started at the University of Texas, majoring in graphic design.
One day a man happened to see one of my paintings. He had a great for it and asked if I ever did art shows. So I was given a(n) . Much to my surprise, I found that people liked my paintings and would pay for them. That was about 11 years ago. Today, 1,500 have carried my work.
It was the art that provided the for me to get up every morning and do something,
sitting in front of the television. Society has such expectations of the disabled person, so it’s very easy to get sucked into a dependency routine --- you know, the “give me” kind of attitude. And that’s what I take the most in --- the fact that what I’m doing today is well received all over.

I grew up in a small town and the main entertainment was Friday night high school football. It was just a sleepy little town where parents wanted to raise their children away from and danger of a big city, and where teenagers like me leaving to find something bigger and better.
All that one summer night. My friend Lisa, Kim and Tyler held a party for my eighteenth birthday at Lisa’s house. As they kept alcohol to me, I was pretty drunk. I asked Tyler to take me home. With some , we made it out to his car and drove home. News came next morning. Kim, my friend we were five years old, was killed in a car accident. That night after Tyler and I left, Kim, who was more drunk than me, got into her car and towards the highway to go home. She was driving on the wrong side of the road and never saw the truck coming. The driver didn’t see her to avoid the car. They hit head on. Kim died immediately, and the driver was thrown the truck windshield (挡风玻璃) and died a week later.
Whenever I back on that day, I can’t help thinking that it was my to drink so much that night, otherwise things would be different. I know Kim the choice to drink and drive that night , but a part of me will always feel for what happened.
I may not change the with my story, but I do hope that I can make people the responsibility that they have to themselves and others by it. Don’t ever think that your choices are yours . Every choice is like a stone dropped into water—each ripple (波纹) represents someone who your choice . That’s quite an influence, isn’t it?

Why do young adult children become independent so much later than they did in 1970,when the average age of independent living was 21? Why have reduced class sizes and increased per-pupil expenditures (花销)not higher academic achievement levels? Why is the mental health of today’s kids so poor when with that of children in the 1960s and before? Why do today’s become defensive when told by teachers that their children have misbehaved in school?
The answer in two words: parental . Those two words best summarize the between “old” child raising and new, post-1960s parenting. Then, the overall philosophy was that parents were not to be involved with their kids. They were available crisis, but they stood a (an) distance from their kids and allowed them to experience the benefits of the trial-and-error process. It was the child’s ,back then, to keep his or her parents from getting involved. That was children learned to be responsible and determined.

These kids have anxieties and fears of all sorts and don’t want to leave their . And their parents, when the time comes, don’t know how to being parents. You can imagine what will become of their future.
