One of my favorite books is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. The story happens in a town in the US.It tells some exciting stories about a boy who has man adventures (冒险).

Tom,the hero of the book, lives with his aunt.He does not like people telling him what to do,so he always get into trouble. One day,Tom discovers the secret of a bad man named Injun Joe.So the bad man is looking for him.Tom firstly runs away to an island in the middle of the Mississippi River.Later,he runs into a cave(山洞)with a friend. They find Injun Joe's treasure box unexpectedly and arrive home safely with it.

My favorite part of the book is when Tom and his friend start their adventures on the island in the Mississippi River. At first, they are happy. But hearing that everyone thinks they are dead, they feel very sorry. So they come back home. When they suddenly appear, the family and neighbors are surprised to see them, but very pleased to find that they are alive.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a great book.First of all,it tells a wonderful adventure story. It also tells how young people grow, how people love each other and how bad people pay for their actions. It is written in everyday English, and the dialogues sound especially real.Today,it is still read and loved by people all over the world and is thought to be one of the greatest American stories.

(an extract from a detective story)

"Sit down," Henderson said, sitting down in an armchair himself and looking at Logan."What are you here for?"

"I understand you had a party last night" said Logan, a police officer.

"Yes," said Henderson, "Oh! I hope the neighbours haven't been complaining about the noise again. "

"Not that I know of." said Logan. "But a young girl, Fran. who came to the party hasn't been home yet"

"Fran" said Henderson. "Yes, she was here. She left early, as I remember﹣about one o'clock. I happened to notice what the time was when she came to say goodbye. But nobody else left until about four in the morning."

"Did you know Clare?" asked Logan suddenly.

"Oh, God!" Henderson sat forward. "You don't think …the same thing has happened to Fran?"

"We're keeping an open mind," said Logan, watching him carefully, "but we're giving it our full attention."

"What do you meanprobably?" asked Grant. Henderson looked at Grant. Grant was sixty with thick black hair and a large moustache. His clothes, as always, looked rather old: a blue jacket and grey trousers. He did not look much of a party animal either.

"Well, I don't check when my guests arrive and leave," said Henderson. "And some people just leave when they want to go home. They don't come and say goodbye. Anyway, sometimes I can be difficult to find." Again he looked at Logan, raised his eyebrows and gave her a big smile."I sometimes end up in the bedroom"

I'll be perfectly honest: I'm not a fan of The Teen Cops. To me, it's very much like watching a silly comedy show on television. But, let me first say that not everything in the movie is bad.

The main characters are funny and lovable. Linda is cute, Sam is funny and Mr. Timmy, the dog, is a perfect partner to the two teenage crime fighters. The producers have also come up with exciting new music.

While the characters in the movie are fine, the plotis too simple. "They look for the bad guys, they find the bad guys, and then they catch the bad guys." Boring! No difference from so many television programmes that we have seen before.

Here's another reason why I don't like the plot. Two teenagers and a little dog act like they are smarter than experienced policemen and criminals. This may be a comedy, but it isn't funny.

It seems that Director James Ma has made this comedy for people of all ages to enjoy. But, in my opinion, he has failed and it is not worth seeing.

Traditional Chinese culture is catching the world's eyes. The good traditional Chinese culture is our great treasure. President Xi Jinping says we should have a high of culture confidence. He gave advice to the people who have strong feelings to control the world. He said they should give up the desires (欲望).

Non﹣action (无为) does not mean that one should do nothing but passively wait for something to be achieved. What he meant is that human should follow the way of nature and try not to break the rule of nature.

De means"Virtue(德行)". Lao zi thought the great virtue is like water. And he thinks nothing in the world is weaker than water, yet nothing is stronger than water when it comes. It can nearly destroy everything strong. In ancient China, there is also a saying, water can hold the boat, it can also make the boat tum upside down. Water is a typical (典型的) example of the weak beating the strong.

Although I have lost everything, I have not lost my life. So I will not give up and I will wait for another ship. I have already cut down trees and built a house. I go out with my gun almost every day to kill animals and birds for food. I'm even learning to grow fruit and vegetables.

A few weeks ago, I found the marks of another man's feet on the sand. Who else is on my island? Not long after that, I saw some cannibals trying to kill two men from a broken ship. One of them died but the other ran towards my house. I helped him kill the cannibals. This man now lives with me and helps me. I named him Friday because that day was the day I met him. He is smart and I have already taught him some English.
