Character, courage and confidence are words you might use to describe your heroes. These words can describe you! Take action as follows and you’ll be a hero, too!
Part 1: Character
Character is something that makes you the person you are like being honest, friendly, and helpful. See the chart below. On the left is our standard of good character. Write down your promise for each line on the right. Then, get a witness(证人)to sign it. Put it up where you’ll see it every day and do your best to keep it.

For example, if you think that Being Honest is the hardest promise for you to keep, one of the ways might be “Tell people about my promise so that I won’t break it”.

Confidence is believing that you have the skills to do something. Do you have a beautiful singing voice? Are you a good painter? There are all talents that can make you feel good, as well as the people around you. Once you’ve decided what your special skill is, think about how you can use your skill to make your corner of the world a better place. Hi Grace,
How’s it going? Sorry I haven’t emailed for a while, but I had so much to do!
I had told you about my decision to take up a sport. I knew I wasn’t fit and I wanted to get some exercises. But that wasn’t the only reason that I decided to do a sport. Students who play sports do better at school. Exercise also helps learning and memory .
First, I tried soccer. I had played a bit of soccer before and I thought it would be too bad. I knew I couldn’t run very long without feeling tired. On the first day, I was able to run for the first ten minutes, but then I was so tired that I couldn’t even kick the ball!
Then, I tried volleyball. I was able to run for the first twenty minutes and I wasn’t the slowest runner in the team! After a few weeks, I could run faster and longer. I was doing better and feeling better. Maybe I’m not a team sport person after all.
Finally, I tried kung fu . It’s a great sport that exercise the body and the mind. You learn to follow instructions carefully and do what you are asked to do. This is the right sport for me ! I feel so confident that I even showed some moves to the class last week. Can you believe it?
I hope you are OK! Write and let me know what you’ve been doing!
Bye for now!
Kristie

The boy's father had a meeting with the family doctor. "Could anything be done?" he asked the doctor.
"I believe I could graft(移植)a pair of outer ears, if you could get them," the doctor said.
However, two years went by, but nobody wanted to offer the young man ears. Then one day the father said, "Son, someone will donate his ears to you. But it's a secret." The operation was a great success.
Time kept the secret, but the day did come ... One day, the young man stood with his father beside his mother's body. Slowly, the father held out a hand and raised the thick brown hair. To his surprise, the son found his mother had no outer ears.
