Twenty﹣six years ago, Yossi went deep into the Amazon jungle and got lost for three weeks. He lost a lot of weight as the result of hunger and disease (疾病). However, he luckily got out of the jungle and wrote a book Jungle about his story years later. The question remains ﹣ how did he survive (幸存)?
Yossi had always dreamed of exploring (探险) the heart of the Amazon jungle. He met and became good friends with Marcus, Kari, and Kevin. They set off together.
(1) At the beginning, that seemed like a good idea so they built the boat excitedly and started downriver. However, on their journey, Kari suddenly refused to continue. The men then separated and moved on in pairs.

Near a waterfall, they lost control of their boat and were thrown into the river.(2) Yossi then spent four days trying to get back upriver to find his friend but failed. During this time, Kevin was saved by some fishermen. He quickly went to the town and asked for help from the local people.
Deep in the forest, Yossi climbed around, lost and alone.(3) As the days passed, not only did Yossi run out of food, but he also realized his foot was starting to rot (腐烂) away.
Yossi wanted to give up many times. One day, as he was cleaning a fresh wound on his foot,Yossi heard the sound of a boat engine. He tried his best to get to the river bank.(4) Yossi wanted to shout out but was too tired to do so. How disappointed he was when he saw the search party turning around and away from him. Yossi tried to run forward but fell into the water. The noise caught Kevin's attention and Yossi was finally saved.

It doesn't just sit in the rubbish bin.Every day, workers come to take the rubbish from our rubbish bins. They put it into a big truck and carry it to landfills (垃圾填埋场).At the landfill, people sort(分类)the rubbish. They recycle some, burn some and bury(埋)some of it underground.(107) It means that less rubbish ends up in landfills.Landfills can also be bad for the environment.
So many Chinese cities encourage everyone to sort out their rubbish before throwing it away.Put the food in one bag.Put the plastic bottles in another. And throw them in the right rubbish bins.In this way,we can help save a lot of time, money and energy for all of society.

There is still a lot to do when it comes to rubbish sorting in China.People in the country make about 300 million tons of rubbish every year.(109) The rest of it ends up in landfills. Most of it is unsorted. The good news is that many cities are trying different ways to make things better.Beijing will start a new program to improve rubbish sorting next year.If people sort out their rubbish, they'll get WeChat bonus points.(110) .

So, almost at the same time, they get up and start running toward the rising sun.
This is life: full of chances and challenges.(2) For students, it is just the same. If we do not study hard, sooner or later, we will fall behind the other students. As I grew up,I got to know competition well.(3) .
Each time I saw children playing games, and heard their laughter,I wished I were that age again.(4) So I picked up my pen and began to study hard again.
I was still not sure what competition really meant. One day, I was taking part in an English﹣speaking competition. When I went to the stage, I saw other students looking at me kindly.(5) It is not as cruel as my teacher and parents told me. In fact, competition is the opposite: it is kind and necessary.
