You may have experienced the annoyance of being fined because of parking illegally or finding your car towed away(拖走)after leaving it parked somewhere for a couple of minutes．But now a high-tech car sticker that’s designed to be stuck to a car’s windscreen could help motorists avoid such a situation．
The TowStop sticker sends a text message to a driver when touched by a traffic policeman，to allow motorists to send a reply and give them time to move their cars immediately．Frankfurt-based IT consultant，Daniel Kalliontzis，came up with the idea and is raising money to put his €54(￡43) sticker into production．
Car owners can put the sticker inside their car’s windscreen，having set it up with key information，such as their phone number．The slim design will include a sensor(传感器)that，when touched by a traffic policeman，will send a text message warning a driver of a possible fine．The driver could then type a reply for the policeman using a smartphone，which will appear on the sticker’s screen．
The smart sticker system will rely on the good will of traffic policemen and in a way，a German law．The law states：an officer has to choose the most efficient and inexpensive way for the car owner to remove the vehicle．It could be cheaper for the government to call the driver than to tow his car．
Mail Online asked the Department of Transport whether the sticker could be used in the UK in a similar way．A spokesman said，“In England there is no legal duty to warn the motorist before issuing the ticket．However，a policeman does have the discretion not to issue a ticket if he doesn’t think the situation is that bad or he just wants to issue a warning．”
So far，Mr．Kalliontzis has raised just over €3，000(￡2，362)of his €50，000(￡39，381) goal．If he manages to raise the money，the stickers will be shipped in June 2015．But it appears that car owners using the smart system could get some unnecessary warning messages，because anyone could touch the smart sticker．

The latest fashion in the kitchen is the food steamer．All the stores are selling them；everyone wants one．Steaming is one of the simplest and healthiest ways of cooking food．However，that cooking time is usually longer than with other methods．In case you’re thinking of buying a steamer，I’ve done a survey about the steamers available on the market to help you decide which will suit you best．
Folding Steamer
The simplest and least expensive is the folding stainless-steel(不锈钢)version．
Advantages：This is a good，basic design which sits inside a variety of different shapes of  pans with the water under it；a ring in the centre allows for easy lifting and it's easy to clean．
Disadvantages：It only holds small dishes．Also，if you put too much water in the pan，it will boil up through the vegetables and they will be watery．If you put too little water in and let it get dry，you will burn the pan and get strange-smelling vegetables．
Steaming Pan
This is a three-layered black Teflon-coated version with a lid and two double-handled  steamers，which sits on the oven ring．The brand I bought is called Nutritious Living．
Advantages：This is an excellent steamer, lightweight，easy to clean，and of all the steamers I’ve tried，this cooks the fastest．Fish and chicken can be cooked on the bottom with rice or vegetables on the top．It’s easier to store．
Disadvantages：Water can boil away until the pan is dry，but if you make sure you fill the  pan up to the suggested level and do not overcook the food，this should not happen．You cannot  see the food cooking from the top．It doesn’t supply a dish for cooking rice．
For serious users of steamers，I recommend having one of each version．If you just want  to try it，get the folding stainless-steel type．

Security—for the information on your smartphone, as well as for the phone itself is a hot topic these days．The truth is that you’re packing a lot of sensitive information on your phone, and you should keep it safe．
When it comes to physical security, iPhone users would do well to download Find My iPhone, a free app from Apple that allows you to visit a website and see your (lost, stolen or misplaced) phone on the map．You can then sound an alarm, send a message that will pop up on its screen, lock the phone or erase all your data．
Android does not have an exact equivalent(等价物), but there are plenty of alternatives．A free app called Lookout offers the find my  phone feature．The paid version allows you to wipe the data from your phone remotely．
Then there is your coffee shop’s WiFi network．Anyone with minimal technical expert skill can snoop on(窥视) people using shared wireless networks, harvesting passwords and other personal data．Lookout’s apps will caution you when you’ve logged on to an insecure network, but cannot protect you once you’re there．
In order to protect yourself on such networks, you can use a virtual private network, or V．P．N．This turns all your activity into nonsense to anyone trying to read along with you from across the Starbucks．It also keeps websites from tracking you and, if you’re traveling, allows you to get access to sites that may be blocked in other countries．
If you have an iPhone, the simplest V．P．N．app is probably Hotspot Shield, whose distinguishing feature is said to be that it automatically kicks in each time you start browsing (浏览), as opposed to other V．P．N．apps that require you to start them up manually(手动)．This matters, because even if you decide you want a V．P．N．app, you want to spend approximately zero time thinking about it．For the most part, that was true of Hotspot Shield, though occasionally it took a while to connect or temporarily lost connection without warning．I found myself having to turn the app on and off sometimes, which involved setting my phone constantly．
