第二节:语法填空(共10小题,每小题1.5分,满分15分)
In Japan, most people still feel that a woman’s place is in the home; and most women willingly accept their traditional role as wives,  31     (leave) the business of making a living to their husbands. For those  32         do want a career of their own, opportunities are limited, and working women usually have to settle for   33            (low) wages, fewer promotions, and less responsible positions.
In America,   34     the other hand, most women, including wives and mothers, work most of their lives. But until recently, few have had real careers. American women work mainly because they have to ; in these days of inflation and luxurious living, only one income per family is  35    (simple) not enough to live on. So American women actually have   36     jobs: one nine-to-five position   37     the home, and the other in-the-home job as wife, housemaid, cook and nurse.
One of the main goals of the modern women’s liberation movement, which started in   38   early 1960s, was to eliminate(消除) sex discrimination in the work force, and to open up opportunities for women  39     were previously reserved for men. And   40     there is still a long way to go, a lot of progress has been made.

阅读下面短文,按照句子结构的语法性和上下文连贯的要求,在空格处填入一个适当的词或使用括号中词语的正确形式填空,并将答案填写在答题卡标号为31~40的相应位置上。
My father woke me  31          early in summer morning when I was fourteen and announced: “ Get up. You’re going to with me to cut the grass.”
The idea  32          my father actually thought I was big enough to help him in his business made me feel proud and  33           (excite). From sunup to sundown my father, my young brother and I worked in the large yards in a rich part of Atlanta, Georgia. By the end of the day I was tired out, 34           I felt good. I had put in a hard day’s labor and had earned $6.
One day my father found some leaves I’d missed and pull me aside. “Clear away these  35           , ”he said firmly , “ and don’t make me have to tell you to do it again.” The message was clear. Today I value the importance of doing a job right the first time. It will never fail to impress the person you are working  36          .
After two years my father told my brother and me that he felt that we were old enough to do lawns on our  37          . Every Saturday during our last two years of high school, we set out early in the morning with the same desire and drive we had gained while  38          (work) under our father.
Taking care of lawns was not exciting or high-paying, but that didn’t matter. It taught me that any job is a good job and that whatever I was paid was            39            than I had before.
In every job I’ve held-from dong lawns to  40           dishes-I have learned something that helped me in my next job. If you work hard enough, you can learn from any job you do.

I want to thank you for offering me such useful advice during my research. I have completed my article about advertisements, and I’m quite satisfied    58    it. I will also pay a    64    more attention to the nationwide public service ad campaigns because now I know how helpful they can be. I will encourage my friends    65     pay attention to them as well.
Thank you again for helping me find so much useful information!

CHILDREN AND GAMES
As we all know, games play a very important role in the growth of children. Children should grow along with playing games;   31           , through playing, they can not only acquire knowledge, but also cultivate their abilities to get along with others.
However, most children are   32           ( face ) with a completely different situation. Most parents fear that games will prevent children from increasing new knowledge and   33            the children will fail in the future examinations. So, instead of   34           ( let ) the children   35            find and learn naturally from their surroundings, they force their children to take part in various kinds of classes, learning English, playing   36           piano or practising drawing, etc. What’s more, some parents put   37            the children’s toys which are very useful in developing children’s imagination and practical abilities.
38          is a piece of good advice to those parents:   39          you want to expect your child to be able to accomplish something, you must first of all develop his ability to adapt to the new surroundings. Dear Professor Liu Kai,
I want to thank you for offering me such useful advice during my research. I have completed my article about advertisements, and I’m quite satisfied   58    it. It has just been published on our school website. I never knew that advertisements were so interesting! The information I found will really help me to educate others. I hope that after they    59    my article, my schoolmates will understand that PSAs    60   intended to educate us about public welfare issues, and    61    commercial ads are meant to promote products or services. Before our talk, I did not think very much about how an advertiser might be trying to trick customers    62   buying a   63   or a service. Now I think I will be much smarter about what things to buy. Even if there are lots of exciting images and persuasive language. I will remember to think about the things I buy. I will also pay a    64    more attention to the nationwide public service ad campaigns because now I know how helpful they can be. I will encourage my friends    65    pay attention to them as well.
Thank you again for helping me find so much useful information!
Yours faithfully
Qian Lili
