Although problems are a part of our lives, it certainly doesn’t mean that we let them rule our lives forever. One day or the other, you’ll have to stand up and say – problem, I don’t want you in my life.
Problems with friends, parents, girlfriends, husbands, and children – the list goes on. Apart from these, the inner conflicts within ourselves work, too. These keep adding to our problems. Problems come in different shapes and colors and feelings.
But good news is that all problems can be dealt with. Now read on to know how to solve your problems.
Talk, it really helps. What most of us think is that our problem can be understood only by us and that no talking is going to help.       Talking helps you move on and let go.
Write your problems.      When you write down your problems, you are setting free all the tension from your system. You can try throwing away the paper on which you wrote your problems. By doing this, imagine yourself throwing away the problems from your life.
Don’t lose faith and hope. No matter what you lose in life, don’t lose faith and hope. Even if you lose all your money, family… you should still have faith.
Your problems aren’t the worst. No matter what problem you get in life, there’re another one million people whose problems are huger than yours.      Your problems might just seem big and worse, but in reality they can be removed.
Go about and solve your problems because every problem, however big or small, always has a way out.

A.But the truth is that when you talk about it, you’re setting free the negative energies that have been gathering within you.
B.When we have a problem, a pressing, critical, urgent, life-threatening problem, how do we try and solve it?
C.Tell yourself: when they can deal with them, why can’t I?
D.Of course, we’ve been fighting troubles ever since we were born.

E. We can often overcome the problem and achieve the goal by making a direct attack.
F. Having a personal diary can also be of huge help if you don’t want a real person to talk with.
G. With faith and hope, you can rebuild everything that you lose.

下面文章有5处需要添加小标题。请从以下选项(A、B、C、D、E和F)中选出符合各段意思的小标题。选项中有一项是多余选项。

A. How inner beliefs can help
B. How to develop positive habits
C. Improve your life
D. You can do it
E. Action plan
F. Why are habits so important

The single most important factor that contributes to success is what you do every single day. It is as simple as that. Your habits will determine whether you are successful or not. If you have strong and healthy positive habits, it does not matter whether or not you fail today because you are guaranteed to succeed in the long run.
________
Because you repeat the same actions and the same behaviors every single day, a single positive action will not change your life, but the same action repeated 1,000 times will have a significant impact on your life. For example, if you go to the gym one time, you won't see a big difference in your life. However, if you go to the gym 1,000 times over a five year period, you will see a big difference in your body. The same principle applies to finance, health, relationships, work, career, and school. Simple positive actions repeated every single daywill have a great impact on your life in the long run.
________
There's nothing easier than developing positive habits. You simply have to do every single day the action you want to make a habit. If you want to develop the habit of running, run almost every day. If you want to develop the habit of eating healthy, eat healthy every day. If you want to develop the habit of reading, read every day. Habits are created by repetition. The more you do an action, the easier it becomes in the long run.
________
If you want to be successful in changing your habits, you should think about changing your inner beliefs about your habits. For example, your old belief was: "I love cigarette because it makes me feel good and relaxed. I need cigarette to be happy and relaxed." If you keep this belief, you won't be able to keep your resolution to stop smoking for very long. Instead, you should adopt this new belief: "I love yoga because it makes me feel good and relaxed. Cigarette is poisonous and destroys my body. Yoga makes me happy." You should analyze your beliefs and make sure they won't stop you from changing your habits. The same is true when you try to form positive habits. If you want to start eating healthy food, here are some positive beliefs you should start thinking about: "Healthy food is very good for my health. It gives me a lot of energy and I feel very good."
________
It's now time for you to develop positive habits in your life and avoid your negative habits. Write down 3 positive habits that you would like to develop and 3 negative habits that you would like to get rid of. For each positive habit, write down exactly what actions you're going to take every single day in order to develop the new habit. For each negative habit, write down exactly what actions you're not going to take in the next weeks. Here are some positive habits that will lead to success: exercise, healthy food, reading, saving, studying, healthy relationships, hard work, etc... Here are some negative habits to get rid of: gambling, drug and alcohol abuse, overeating, shyness, etc.
________
Everybody can change. All it takes is courage and commitment. Decide right now to improve your life by changing your habits. Take action right now! Don't be afraid. Yes, you will probably make mistakes along the way. But never forget that success is guaranteed for you if you have positive habits in your life. If you refuse to quit, success will be yours

It’s sometimes hard to understand a teenager. It’s even harder if a teenager doesn’t agree with you .
Listen to what the teenager has to say.    While you may not entirely agree with what he’s saying, the tension will be lessened if the teenager feels like you are listening and trying to understand him. Also, he might return the favor and give you the chance to talk as well. It’s best to have a conversation where both of your opinions matter rather than fight and possibly hurt each other in the process.
Understand that while teenager may appear grown up and perhaps even sound matured, his mind has not fully developed, and he cannot think like an adult all the time.    However, this doesn’t mean you’re completely right or he deserves to be ridiculed or treated like a child.
However, remember that the teenager should understand when “no” is “no”. Avoid bringing up a compromise every time you disagree on something. This might teach him that he can always get away with what he wants ,whenever he wants it.
If the conversation launches into an argument, stop it. Tell him that you both need to calm down and think clearly or the problem will never be solved. If he refuses to listen to you and continues arguing , step out of the room and allow time for both of you to settle down. Do not scold him or shout back. Your words will possibly be lost on the teenager since you both are too angry to listen to each other.   He still needs to learn, and he doesn’t know everything.

A.Avoid having a bad tone, including accusations in your words.
B.This article tells you how to disagree with a teenager in a kind manner.
C.Bring up the topic after a while and make sure you listen to each other patiently.
D.People like being listened to, so give him the chance to express his opinion.

E.Come up with a compromise if the situation allows one.
F.Find the good points the teenager has and mention the negative points as well.

A Good Night’s Sleep
When the morning sun looks in through your bedroom window, do you jump out of bed?      An adequate amount of sleep can make the difference between a great day and a terrible one!
A good night’s sleep doesn’t just happen. You need to prepare for it.      First, go to bed at the same time every day, and get up at the same time. If you haven’t gotten a good night’s sleep, don’t oversleep the next morning. Get up at your regular time. Sleeping late for just a couples of days can change your body clock to a different cycle. You don’t want that if you have a set daily schedule.
Also, avoid big meals at night.       Your stomach works hard to digest those fatty foods, and that may keep you up.
Your body produces a chemical called melatonin (褪黑色素) that helps you sleep. Light affects the amount of melatonin your body makes.     So at night turn off your TV and computer. Also, don’t read from a backlit electronic equipment like an IPad. Some scientists think that the light from those stops your body from making melatonin. So turn those screens off at least an hour before bedtime.
Maybe you can’t sleep or you wake up in the middle of the night.       Get up and do something relaxing elsewhere. Then go back to bed when you feel asleep again. If you worry a lot, make a list of things you need to do the next day. Do that an hour before bed. That way you get your worrying out of the way before you go to bed.
After a good night’s sleep, you’ll be able to face a new day.

A.Don’t just lie in bed.
B.You can have three meals a day.
C.Or do you roll over and complain?
D.Various experts have given tips to help.

E. Your TV and computers might affect your sleep.
F. It produces more in the evening and less in the daytime.
G. Eating heavy, rich food within two hours of bedtime can keep you awake.

The right pair of exercise shoes can do a lot to prevent discomfort and injuries, personal trainers say. Here are some shopping tips:
Depending on your workout, shoes designed for walking, running, tennis, cross-training or another specialty will provide the best support for your feet.
Shop when you normally exercise.Feet actually get bigger throughout the day, sometimes swelling up as much as a half-size by nighttime.
Try them on.Never grab a pair of exercise shoes based only on the size of footwear you normally buy.Bring the type of socks you’d wear to work out and go for a walk through the store.
You should be able to spread your toes out comfortably.Make sure there’s about a half-inch of space between them and the front of the shoe. The back should fit snugly (warmly and comfortably) against your heel and not move up and down.If your feet are different sizes, buy based on the larger one.
Talk to an expert.Shoe salesmen and personal trainers can study your stride (步伐) and the shape of your feet.
Many trainers recommend switching footwear every three to five months, if possible, to maintain(保持)proper cushioning and support. One tip: if you have to tie your shoes very tightly to feel a good amount of support, they may be ready to go.

A.Think about how much you can afford to buy the workout shoes.
B.Consider your type of exercise.
C.Focus on fit.
D.So don’t shop first thing in the morning if you often work out in the evening.

Doctors Say Most Heart Disease Is Preventable
Heart disease is the number one killer, worldwide, of men and women over the age of 60. But people of all ages die of heart attacks each year. And while death rates have declined in the U. S. and many western European countries, they are on the rise in the developing world.
No one would have guessed that Barbara Teng would have a heart attack. She was not overweight. She did not smoke or exercise. “In 2004, the week after I turned 49, when I was on a business trip in Chicago, I had a major heart attack, ”she said.       She now exercises daily, and monitors her heart health.
Dr. Patrice Nickens, who is with the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, thinks that heart disease is 82 percent preventable. “   ”she said, “Men are also facing the same problem, and the key to staying healthy is knowing your numbers. ”
“Your weight, your blood cholesterol, blood sugar and your blood pressure are important numbers that can help you take action and reduce your risk, ”she said.

“And the steps to take are simple: don’t smoke, maintain a healthy weight, exercise, know your numbers and talk to your physician and control these risks, ”she said.
African-Americans are at higher-than-average risk of heart disease and stroke; people don’t even know they have it, which increases the risk. Medstar Washington Hospital Center is trying to reach this population.       For example, helping the people monitor their blood pressure. If people realize they are at risk of heart disease, they’ll make lifestyle changes: lose weight, exercise, eat the right foods and keep in touch with a doctor.

A.A healthy lifestyle can prevent heart disease.
B.So we must cure heart disease.
C.It is the leading cause of death for women.
D.With the right training, they can play an important role in community health.

E. And that changed her life.

____Susan is a big eater. She usually has a lot at every meal. So she wonders whether she could only eat less for the first meal of a day to lose weight.
_____Tina is a fat girl who doesn’t like exercise much. She just wants to lose weight by eating less but not doing exercise.
_____Maggie is a busy office lady. She usually has to work overtime every day. So she could only have her dinner late at night. She wants to be slimmer so that she could be much more attractive.
_____Judy is a fashionable designer. She hopes to have a slim shape as models. She usually doesn’t have any regular meal, but has some snacks when she is hungry.

A.If you eat less for breakfast, you have a lower chance of losing weight. Breakfast is important. It gives the body sufficient energy to sustain itself through the morning, and it also stimulates metabolic (新陈代谢) activity in the body. Metabolism is what consumes fat and what makes us slimmer. So, don’t forget to eat something for the breakfast.
B.What makes people fat is not the number of calories for one meal, but the total accumulated over time. So don’t expect your weight to drop when you eat less for just one meal. This needs to be sustained over a period of time. After some time, you will notice a change.
C.Many people stop doing exercise when they eat less. When you do this, your body will burn less fat. So even if people take in less calories, they get rid of less too. The balance is then unchanged.
D.People gain fat not from the food they eat, but from the number of calories in the food. For example, a bunch of vegetables has just one tenth the calories contained in a small bit of chocolate cake. So make sure you have adequate regular meals, but firmly say no to various snacks, milk tea or even instant noodles.

E. If you ate your last meal right before going to bed, the calories accumulated from this meal could be twice the amount accumulated from a same meal if you ate it another time during the day.

“As easy as falling off a log” is often used to describe a job that does not take much effort. You might hear a student say to her friend that her spelling test was “as easy as falling off a log”.  . It is easier to fall off the log than to stay on it.
. One is “easy as pie”. Nothing is easier than eating a piece of sweet, juicy pie unless it is a “piece of cake”.
“Piece of cake” is another expression that means something is extremely easy to do. A friend might tell you that his new job was a “piece of cake”.
Another expression is “as easy as shooting fish in a barrel”. It is hard to imagine why anyone would want to shoot fish in a barrel. But, clearly, fish in a barrel would be much easier to shoot than fish in a stream.   .
Sometimes, things that come to us easily, also leave us just as easily. In fact, there is an expression —“easy come, easy go”—that recognizes this. . Easy come, easy go.
When life itself is easy, when you have no cares or problems, you are on “Easy Street”. Everyone wants to live on that imaginary street.
. It means to treat a person kindly or gently, especially in a situation where you might be expected to be angry with him. A wife might urge her husband to “go easy on” their son, because the boy did not mean to damage the car.

A.If you ever tried to walk on a fallen tree log, you understand what the expression means.
B.You may win a lot of money in a lottery, then spend it all in a few days.
C.Every people has its own way of saying things, its own special expressions.
D.Another “easy” expression is to “go easy on a person”.

E. There are several other expressions that mean the same thing.
F. And one last expression, one that means do not worry or work too hard.
G. In fact, it would be as easy as “falling off a log”.

Tips for Cooking on a Tight Schedule
From my experience, there are three main reasons why people don't cook more often: ability, money, and time.    Money is a topic I'll save for another day. So today I want to give you some wisdom about how to make the most of the time you spend in the kitchen. Here are three tips for great cooking on a tight schedule:
1.Think ahead. The moments when I think cooking is a pain are when I'm already hungry and there's nothing ready to eat. So think ahead of the coming week. When will you have time to cook? Do you have the right materials already?
2. Make your time worth it. When you do find time to cook a meal, make the most of it and save yourself time later on. Are you making one loaf of bread?    It takes around the same amount of time to make more of something. So save yourself the effort for a future meal.
3.   This may surprise you, but one of the best tools for making cooking worth your time is experimentation. It gives you the chance to hit upon new ideas and recipes that can work well with your appetite (食欲) and schedule. The more you learn and the more you try, the more ability you have to take control of your food and your schedule.
Hopefully that gives you a good start.     And don't let a busy schedule discourage you from making some great changes in the way you eat and live!

A.Try new things.
B.Ability is easily improved.
C.Make three or four instead.
D.Understand your food better.

E. Cooking is a burden for many people.
F. Let cooking and living simply be a joy rather than a burden.
G. A little time planning ahead can save a lot of work later on.
