Have you ever wondered why some people are able to have confidence to spare when it comes to taking risks such as starting their own business or taking a year off to travel without an enormous safety net? The answer is that they’ve the art of optimistic thinking. The good news is that some people are simply born to be optimistic, anyone can to take a more positive approach towards their life.
Optimists look for outcomes. This doesn’t mean that optimists always jump into things carelessly and hope for , rather that they do not let potential negative outcomes the potential positive outcomes. By hoping so and having that they can handle any negatives, optimists are to take advantage of opportunities that come their way.
Optimists believe that their actions can make a . They do not see their own efforts as being . They understand that they do have the power to make things happen and take steps to make their dreams a reality. , pessimists have a difficult time believing that what they do will make any difference and find it to make any changes or take any action towards achieving a goal. They find why something that has worked for others will not work for them and believe that anything they do is certain to . This makes it difficult for them to get out of situations that make them , such as a dead-end job that makes them miserable.
Optimists do not internalize(使内在化)failure. When things don’t for them, they don’t beat themselves up over it. They are able to accept failure as a part of life and try with a positive attitude. They are often better able to learn from their . When pessimists do take chances and fail, they have a hard time not themselves and concluding that this is the way that it has to be. One can leave them with a sense of being unworthy or completely at the mercy of others.
That’s why optimists become successful!

A Leap(跳跃)to Honor
Leaping on a narrow balance beam(平衡木) is not easy. But Lola Walter, a 13-year-old gymnast, is an expert at it.
To perfect her skills, Lola for four hours a day, five days a week. At the state championships in March, she finished seventh out of 16 girls.
That’s especially impressive. she is legally blind, born with a rare condition that causes her eyes to shift constantly. She often sees double and can’t _ how far away things are.
When she was little, her mom that even though she couldn’t see , she was fearless. So her mom signed her up for gymnastics when she was three. She loved the right away and gymnastics became her favorite.
Though learning gymnastics has been more for her than for some of her tournaments, she has never quit. She doesn’t let her stop her from doing anything that she wants to. She likes the determination it takes to do the sport. Her biggest is the balance beam. Because she has double vision, she often sees two beams. She must use her sense of touch to help her during her routine. Sometimes she even closes her eyes. “You have to your mind that it’ll take you where you want to go.” says Lola.
To be a top-level gymnast, one must be brave. The beam is probably the most for anyone because it’s four inches wide. At the state competition, Lola didn’t fall the beam. In fact, she got an 8.1 out of 10---- her highest score yet.
Lola doesn’t want to be differently from the other girls on her team. At the competitions, the judges don’t know about her vision . She doesn’t tell them, because she doesn’t think they need to know. Her mom is amazed by her attitude.
Lola never thinks about . She is presently at level 7 while the highest is level 10 in gymnastics. Her is to reach level 9. She says she wants to be a gymnastics coach to pass down what she’s learned to other kids she grew up.
Lola is of all her hard work and success. She says it’s helped her overcome problems in her life outside gymnastics, too. Her for others is “just believe yourself”.

For most of us, success in school has very little to do with actual learning. The most important thing you have to master is how to play the grade games. you think out your own strategies for getting high marks, everything opens up to you. You may be to a well-known college or win scholarship, not to mention gaining the admiration of your teachers and parents.
But not everyone does well in tests. At times, it can almost turn into a funny game of hit and . Some students haven't mastered the of test taking, and some fear under pressure or need more time or another way to what they know. Being a school means learning things out of the school system. Then you have to work things to your . Lots of students are already doing it without it. Getting high grades also on knowing each teacher's character. For example, I once had to take , so one day in classes I talked to the teacher I had wanted to. I told him how I'd heard what a really good teacher he was, and how disappointed I was that I'd have to graduate having been in his class. I lied. It . (I had counted on the chemistry teacher being human, and he accepted.) I wasn't proud of myself for what I did. Growing up in my Grandma’s house as a boy was an experience that would shape me for the rest of my life. We were poor in everything but . yet I learned so much about life there. My Mom, Dad, Grandma, two , and I were all into a home made from two old shabby cars. I always knew what my next would look like because I had seen my older brother them the year before, I always knew what we were going to be in winter, because I had it in the garden during the summer. , I never felt poor. No king ever ate as good as we did on Sundays after church when Grandma her homemade meatballs, spaghetti(意大利式细面条)and freshly baked bread.
we had so little I can still remember Dad, Mom, and Grandma giving so much. We were always with others. Everyone who our family could expect a of spaghetti, or a jar of vegetables, or a flower pot full of fresh flowers. I can still remember my parents’ eyes whenever they passed something on to others. We never felt than when we shared what we were given. I learned early that the greatest joy comes from giving getting. Giving makes your spirit greater.
Don’t be afraid to what you have to others. Share everything you have. If you have a beautiful , then smile at whoever you come across. If you have a few extra dollars, then give them to the people in need. If you have a talent, then share it with others. If you have a heart full of love, then give it to everyone. No life ever truly lives it becomes a gift, so make your whole life a gift to the world.

You had better learn to be grateful. If you are grateful, you naturally yourself up to receive all kinds of blessings and good things in life. You can receive almost everything you want . If you want recovery soon, start by feeling grateful that you are still . If it is more money that you want, start being grateful for whatever of money you already have.
You see, showing gratitude(感恩) is the key to every thing in life. It is the key to successful relationships, it is the key to successful futures and it is the key to healthier and happier lives. And this is where the importance of being grateful lies. , it makes life better.
One of my favorite is “If you learn to appreciate more of what you already have, you will find yourself having more to appreciate.” Think about that!
Something as as a “Thank you for being in my life” or “I having you here with me”, can go a long way. It will make the other person feel good, and it also will make you feel better!
So maybe your wife is not very around the house, but she’s great at cooking your favorite . Or, maybe your child milk all over your new shirt right before you walked out the door for work, but usually he makes you laugh so much and makes you the luckiest parent in the world.
I strongly you to make a promise to yourself for the next week. Decide to every morning and think of at least 5 things that you are for. Then say them out loud. You will notice a smile on your face without even . In 30 days you will feel completely renewed. This is the of being grateful!

Managers get in trouble here when they talk about the average age of their workforce in to -the candidate: "Our typical employee is probably 8 to 10 years older than you. Do you expect problems managing people older than yourself?" You can imagine the later court . Manager: "But, Your Honor, I never asked her age!”Candidate: "My age seemed to be one of his key about my ability to manage." And, of course, you can avoid all these disputes(争执)by simply answering your employer: "Age has been a consideration for me in my work life."
In another area of sex, an employer cannot ask questions about the person's gender(性别) the job specifications strictly require either a male or a female. A little boy felt sorry for a butterfly struggling to from its chrysalis. He decided to the butterfly. So he peeled the chrysalis open for the butterfly. The little boy was so to watch the butterfly spread its wings and fly off into the sky. Then he was horrified he watched the butterfly fall to the ground and die because it did not have the muscle to keep flying. In fact, the butterfly’s struggle to the chrysalis helps the butterfly become stronger.
Like the little boy, too often want to protect their children from struggle in the of love. They don’t realize that their children need to struggle, to experience , to deal with disappointment, and to solve their own problems. Only in this way can children their emotional strength, become and develop the skills necessary for the even bigger struggles they will meet throughout their lives. Children experiencing sufferings can the ups and downs of life.
However, it isn’t helpful either in this case when parents lectures(训斥), blame and shame to what the child is experiencing. Mothers to say, “Stop crying and acting like a spoiled boy. You can’t always get what you want.” These words should be avoided.
Instead, parents can offer loving support. You can say, “Don’t lose . Be brave! You will succeed if you try again.” Then comes the tough part—no a no lectures. Simply allow him to discover that he can get over his disappointment and what he can do to get what he wants in the future.

The Fish I didn't Catch
I still remember my first fishing experience as if it were but yesterday. I have been many times in my life (like when I got admitted to the best school), but never more intensely sothan when I received that first fishing from my uncle.
My uncle, who knew by long where pickerel(梭鱼)would gather, placed me at the most favorable point. I threw out my line and waited anxiously for a bite, the float up and down rapidly on the surface of the water. But nothing came of it. "Try again," said my uncle. Suddenly the float out of sight. "Now for it," thought I; "here is a fish at last."
I made a strong pull, only to bring up a tangle of weeds. Again and again I cast out my line with aching arms, and drew it back empty. I looked at my uncle ."Try once more," hesaid;"we fishermen must have
Suddenly something tugged at my line, and swept off with it into deep water. Pulling it up quickly, I saw a fine pickerel wriggling in the sun. "Uncle!”I cried, looking back in uncontrollable , "I've got a fish!”"Not yet," said my uncle. Just then, I saw the scared fish shooting into the middle of the stream, my hook hung from the line. I had lost my prize.
My heart sank with it and I felt like a failure. We tend to speak of the of childhood as matters of little importance those of grown-ups. Controlled by reason and self-respect, the sorrows of grown-ups the social customs and rules of conduct the sorrows of childhood are a complete abandonment to the passion. The doll's nose is broken, and the whole world with it.
So, overcome with my bitter disappointment, I refused to be ,even by my uncle's guarantee that there were more fish in the river. He refitted my bait, and, putting the pole again in my hands, told me to try my luck once more.
"But remember, boy," he said, with a smile, "it's no use to boast of(自夸)anything before it's done, nor then, either, it speaks for itself."
How often I have been reminded of the fish that I did not catch !When I hear people talking about their distant aims as if they had already been achieved, I call to mind that by the riverside, and the wise caution of my uncle takes the form of a proverb of application: "NEVER BOAST OF YOUR FISH BEFORE YOU CATCH HIM."
