Some students thought that they can learn English well if they remember the grammar rules and learn by hearts as much words as they can. And I don’t quite agree with them. Learning rules from a grammar book and remember long lists of words are not enough. We must learn by                 
listening to, speaking, reading and writing. We should practice our spoken English both in and out class, and try to read and listen whenever possible. This is also helpful to keep diaries and write letters or shortly stories in English. Only with this way can we learn English well.

Recently we have a hot discussion on if people should keep pets at home in cities or not.                             
Some students think it is a good idea to keep pets because of many old people living alone can get
comfort from them. Beside, getting along well with animals will make our life interested. On the
other hand, other students are against the idea. In their opinions, if too many people keep pets at
home, it’s bad to the environment. What is worse, pets may make too much noisy and even attack
people. I like animals, but I don’t think it bad to keep pets at home. But we must take measures to
keep them polluting our environment.

I like eating fruit and vegetables what are of great benefit to our healthy. Not only do they prevent us from falling into ill, but they help us lose weight. I used to hate vegetables, but follow the doctor’s advice, I gradually kicked the bad habit. Just as an old saying going, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. However, there are still many children dislike fruit and vegetables. On contrary, influenced by this or that kind of advertisement, many were crazy about junk food. Consequently, they become weaker and weaker instead of getting strong. In my opinion, we must take action to change them.

Most of the Chinese people think the family with one child is more better than the one with more than one child. For a thing, they want to build a successful career but have few time to bring up more than one child; for other thing, raise only one child they can afford better education for him. But others think this is better to have a big family. They think more children they raise, the better their life will be when they grow old. This morning I went to ask for my English teacher to give me some advice on why to learn English well on the weekend. Yesterday, I went to have lunch in a restaurant. The restaurant was such crowded that the food arrived late and the fish was cold. I was on a hurry, so I started eating the food anyway. Several minute later, a server came to me and was asked how I liked the meal. In that situation, he may choose to say honestly that you are disappointing that the food came out cold. However, I choose not to tell the truth. With a smile on my face, I told the server nothing satisfied me. I told lie. But it made the server happily.
