Many have heard of shark fin soup. This famous and expensive dish is especialy (64) in southern China. But do you realize that you're killing a whole shark each time you enjoy a bowl of shark fin soup?
When people catch sharks,they(65) their fins and throw the shark back into the ocean. This is not only cruel, but also (66) to the environment.Without a fin,a shark can no longer swim and slowly dies.Sharks are at the top of the food chain in the ocean's ecosystem. If their numbers drop too low,it will bring (67) to all ocean life. Many believe that sharks can never be endangered because they are the (68) in their food chain. But in fact, around 70million sharks are caught and traded in this industry every year. The numbers of some kinds of sharks have fallen by over 90percent in the last 20to 30years.
Environmental protection (69) around the world, such as WildAid and the WWF,are teaching the public about"finning".They have even asked governments to develop laws to stop the sale of shark fins.So far,no scientific studies have shown that shark fins are good for (70) .so why eat them?Help save the sharks!

Feb 10 should have been the start of the spring term for many middle and primary schools in China. However, to control the novel coronavirus outbreak(新型冠状病毒爆发), many (1) have put off the start of the term.
Instead of having classes at school, many students in Nanjing began(2) first day of online classes on February 10. Then students in Beijing started online study seven days (3) and Shanghai started in March.

"Online courses are only temporary ways(临时措施) in the epidemic period. So (7) the new term begins, schools should not replace(代替) classroom teaching with online classes," said Lyu Yugang from MOE.
Lyu also called on schools not to(8) their students' schoolwork burden(负担). Schools should not ask students to study online for a long time or study things beyond their lessons.Students must have enough time to (9) . What's more, it is (10) to protect students' eyesight.

This month, we had the honor of interviewing and six local change﹣makers aged from 11 to 17. These weren't stopped by their age or size or lack of resources, they saw a(1) in the world around them and to step help where they could. They support female soldiers raise money through their efforts, teach other kids about life lessons, and use their free time to (2) the old trees we love so dearly in the community. Each of them had adults in their lives encouraging and supporting their work.
We were also honored to interview a famous writer for his new book, Start Now! You can Be a Change﹣maker. The book explains some of the world's big problems﹣hunger, health and animals in danger﹣in a way that young children can understand. The book shows them, through other kids' stories, how they can make a (3) , too. In our interview with the writer,he shares that each time his children take a small action, such as recycling,he talks with them.He uses the moment to discuss how small changes can achieve a great effect. It's a step any of us can take to help children realize how(4) they are.
At this time of year,we often hear lots of questions from parents. The most one is,"What volunteer chances are there for young children under 16?"The kids in the interview and in the book show us that parents don't have to find an organized event for their kids to take part in.They can create their own chances. As parents, teachers, aunts, uncles, and friends,it's our job to (5) for what speaks to a child's heart, help the man to take that first step, and watch what their little hands can do.
Start now,and you can raise a change﹣maker.

Hi! I 'm doing a survey on teaching materials in school. What kind of textbooks do you use? Do you think the use of photocopied(复印的) netbooks and newspaper articles in the classroom can be accepted? Please give your (1) . |
The use of such materials is certainly not (2) for writers. Textbooks are like other creative works. Many people have to put their efforts in the writing of a book. The efforts of the writers and publishers will be totally wasted if everyone photocopies their textbooks. I can't imagine that! |
I don' t think it right to use photocopied materials even in the classroom because it's against the law. Teachers should set a good example for their students by (3) the law. |
Copied books are as good as copyrighted(正版的)ones, but they don't (4) much, usually less than half the price. In addition, it is so (5) to use copied materials. When we want to share something good we just have it photocopied. I think photocopying is OK because publishers are still making a lot of money anyway. |
Most of the time, teachers make sure their students do not use photocopied materials. But I know some teachers do use photocopied newspaper articles sometimes, as their students are eager to learn more to widen their views. As you know, teachers always put the (6) of students above anying else. After all, you can't expect all the students to buy newspapers. |
Wow! Thank you for sharing so many ideas! |
