A couple often went shopping together. They both liked teacups. One day they saw a beautiful teacup in a store. As they picked it up, it suddenly spoke.
"I haven't always been a teacup. Once I was red clay. My master rolled(揉、搓) me over and over and I shouted, but he only smiled."

"Then he put me in the oven. I had never felt so hot. I could see him through the opening and I could read his words,'Not yet.'"
"Finally the door opened, and he took me out and put me on a shelf. Then he brushed me and put me back into the oven. This time it was twice as hot. I begged. I cried. I could see him through the opening nodding his head, saying,'Not yet.'"
"Then I knew there wasn't any hope. I was ready to give up, but the door opened and I was taken out and placed on a shelf. Later he handed me a mirror and said,'Look at yourself.' I said,'That can't be me. It's beautiful!'"
"'I want you to remember,' he said,'if I had just left you without rolling, you'd have dried up. If I had stopped rolling you around on the wheel, you would have been out of shape. If I hadn't put you in the oven, you would have broken. If I hadn't brushed you all over, you would not have any color in your life. When a new student arrived in my third grade class,I thought it would just be a common student, but this student was different. His name was Derek and he had autism(孤独症).He sometimes had random outbursts (随意的发作)during class and we would stand there, doing nothing because we didn't know why he was doing that. When he sat down at desk,we would try to get away from him. After class,we would play jokes on each other, imitating(模仿)Derek, and laughing about it.

Mind Maps
Mind maps are a great way of showing a picture of information that you need to learn. You can use mind maps for all kinds of learning. They work very well for vocabulary when you are learning a new language.
1Draw a circle in the middle of the page and write the vocabulary subject in the middle. For example:
transport.
2Brainstorm some word groups for 'transport' and think of headings for each one. For example:
sea transport
land transport
air transport
For each one, draw a short line from the centre circle outwards. Add another circle and write the new group word in the middle.
3Look at each group and try to add more groups. For example, in 'land transport' there are two sub﹣groups;
●road
●rail
Draw two more lines, add two more circles and write the two new headings inside them.
4When you can't make any new groups, add a line for each word you know. Write the words along the lines or, if you have space, write them inside more circles.

C.A Surprising Journey
D.An Excellent Memory.
That year, I was a Junior 2student. Falling off the stairs hurt me in the head. Almost everyone thought I was dead. But they were wrong. However, it was difficult to get back to normal (正常的) life. I had to leave school and learn everything, walking, talking, and yes, maths.
To help me with that task, Mrs. Pillar volunteered to come to the hospital and later to my house once a week. We began with basic maths skills, As time passed by, I made progress.
I remembered very vividly how she came to my home on Sundays, sat with me at the kitchen table, and threw different coins on the table. She asked me to show her 38cents, 17cents, 63cents. It was challenging, but she also made it fun.
After a year and a half, I had progressed a lot, both in body and mind, to return to school. Seven years later, I graduated from the University of Texas at the top of my class.
As year went by, I always kept in touch with Mrs. Pillar. Unluckily, one day my parents told me that Mrs. Pillar had been in hospital because she suffered a stroke(中风).
Now it was my turn to help her. Mrs. Pillar lay in bed, unable to speak and know anybody around. I pulled some coins out of my pocket, dropped them on her bed, and asked her to show me 12cents. The nurse thought that my action was very strange until one day Mrs. Pillar smiled happily as I began working with her﹣just as she had worked with my years before. She make progress every day and was moved out of ICU(重症监护室) and finally out of hospital.
One day, I called to wish her a happy New Year. She spoke into the phone excitedly, "Happy New Year to you and your family, Michael. Thank you for everything you've done for me." I quickly said, "Thank you for everything you've done for me."
Mrs. Pillar was one of my Junior 2teachers, but she taught me so much more about life than only maths.

My father, who was always drunk and angry, beat me more and more every day. He always locked the door when he went away and kept the key in this pocket. One day I found an old saw(锯子) that he hid in the roof. When I was alone in the house,I started to make a hole on the floor under the big table.
The next day my father said,"Huck, go to the river and catch some fish for breakfast. Quickly! And don't try anything. Remember, I'm watching you!"
While I was fishing by the river, I saw an empty boat nearby.
"A boat!" I thought happily,"This is my chance to escape. I'll hide the boat near some trees and use it tonight!"
When my father went to town that afternoon, I got my saw and started to work on the hole. It was late afternoon when I finished making the hole.
"I did a good job,"I thought, looking at the hole. "Now I'll get my father's gun.
I looked outside the window and there was nobody there. I quickly escaped through the hole. Then I ran into the woods to hunt a wild pig. Luckily, I found one. I shot it and took it back to the house and let the pig's blood fall on the wooden floor of the house. Then I pulled some of my hair out and put it on my father's axe(斧子) with some of the pig's blood. I took the pig's body outside and put it in a big bag with some rocks, and threw it into the river.
"This way people will think__▲__ !"I thought. "They'll come and look for my body in the river."This idea made me smile.
I waited until it was dark and got into the boat and went to Jackson's Island. I knew about Jackson's Island because Tom, Ben, Joe and I had a lot of fun adventures there.
