The Smaller,the Better!
After reading the article"The Benefits(益)of Living Small",I decided that my husband and I should sell our 2500square﹣foot home to move into a 300square﹣foot home.
We have no children, yet we have five bedrooms, three bathrooms, two kitchens, and a huge living room.We can never afford to take time off from work to enjoy the things in life that we really want to,because our bills are so high. But when we downsize,I will be able to leave my job,and won't have to spend hours each week cleaning!
I'm sure our new little home will encourage us to get outside more often, spend more time with friends and family, and make our world more beautiful by using less energy and preventing further urban sprawl(城市扩张).I think all owners of large homes should consider going smaller!
From Jane Adams
I disagree entirely with the one﹣sided article you published last month,"The Benefits of Living Small".
Little homes such as the ones the writer wrote about in the article cost a small part of what normal family homes cost, and our economy(经济)is sure to feel the influence of this. Many educated people will leave their jobs, move to small homes in the countryside, and cities will experience brain drain(人才外流),not to mention all the construction workers who will be left jobless.
The"simple way of life"the writer speaks of in his article is nothing but simple. However, working hard and living in large, comfortable homes is something people all around the world try their best for. Before we give up the American dream,I suggest all readers reconsider selling off their biggest possessions!

I remember when I was growing up, my mom always said, "Half the fun of doing anything is sharing it with others." It's so true. Friends allow us to taste our success and comfort us in our challenging moments. They provide a mirror for us to learn more about ourselves. 66.I've always looked at friends as family members. As a famous writer once said,"67. 一位朋友就是一份礼物 which you give yourself."
To be a good friend, 68.it is important to be a good listener. Hear what your friend says first rather than making conclusions(结论)quickly.
Sometimes it's useful to repeat their words back to them. It can help them realize whether their words were what they wanted to say.
Patience is also an important part of being a good friend.69. 你知道这条古老的黄金规则,"Care for others the way you would like them to care for you." The support of a friend during a difficult time could make a difference between success and failure. Encouragement and confidence are the best gifts that can change a person's life.
70.We should choose our friends carefully, because they can have a huge influence on our life. As someone told me, "The attitudes of your friends are like the button(按钮)on a lift. They will either take you up or down."

I still remembered my first day of second grade.I was led to a room.No teacher yet.Girls talking.Boys trying to kill each other.
I took some paper and a pencil, picked a desk, and went to work.Minutes later,a girl came over and sat on top of my desk.
"What're you doing?"she said.
"Writing to 100,"I replied.
"Is that you can do?"
"No,"I said.
Then I rose from my seat to get my pencil sharpener.I had no idea that when I stood, the desk would fall over and hurt her leg.
Her name was Jane. From that day on﹣﹣she was my best friend.Wherever we went﹣﹣to school or church or basketball games,Jane saved me a seat or I saved one for her.
Many years later, after college,I moved to California and married.Jane stayed in our hometown to be a social worker. We were friends for more than 50years.After her death seven years ago,I still think of her often, especially at the start of the school year.

For years,I feared how people saw me.But one day,I finally understood.I didn't need to be smart or pretty or popular.I just needed to be kind.
My grandson Henry recently finished his preschool and received a prize for "Friendship".Even an Olympic medal wouldn't make me prouder! I think children need to know that they are loved. They need to know that they have all they need and the best way to win friends is to be one.

Years ago,I lived in a building in a large city. The building next door was only a few feet away from mine. There was a woman who lived there, whom I had never met,yet I could see her seated by her window each afternoon, sewing or reading.
After several months had gone by,I began to notice that her window was dirty.Everything was unclear through the dirty window.I would say to myself,"I wonder why that woman doesn't wash her window. It really looks terrible."
One bright morning I decided to clean my flat, including washing the window on the inside.

Then I began to understand it.I had been criticizing (批评) her dirty window, but all the time I was watching hers through my own dirty window.

Money can make you happy, only if you spend it in a clever way.
Buying a new car makes you happy. However, you will forget this happy feeling when the car gets old.But if you spend a week traveling. It's more possible that you'll remember the great experience, and you'll remember the feeling for a long time.A new study has found that spending money on experiences makes people happier than on material things.
For material things,it's possible that you'll care about every little things. If you buy a nice pen,and someone else buys one with less money,it is possible that you may be unhappy because you spend more money. When it comes to experiences like trips, you won't think like that.If the experience is generally good, you will be happy with the price.
Material things can be compared more easily. If you buy an MP3 and then see a more suitable one,you may regret buying the first one. However,if you have a nice dinner at one restaurant, and then learn about another better restaurant, you'll not regret the first meal.
Material things can cause jealousy(嫉妒).For example,if you buy a new toy and find that your friend has a better toy,you will feel unhappy.Instead,if you travel to a beautiful place, then no matter where your friends have gone,it won't make the memory of your trip less happy.

Everyone wants to become perfect.Unluckily, being perfect may not happen. Here's some useful advice about how to refuse perfection.
●NO more comparisons
Compared with others, you may feel that you are not perfect. The solution?End your comparison.NO comparing,no pain.
●Accept your mistakes
When perfection is your goal, mistakes mean failure.Your fear of criticism(批评)may keep you from① risks or trying new things.Nobody is perfect.Take it easy. You needn't take others' words seriously.
●Ask for help
Part of beating perfection is accepting that mistakes are part of human beings. If you don't give up,you will be successful one day.You shouldn't prevent you from asking for help you need to really improve.
●Don't judge(评判)yourself
Find a trusted friend, family member or teacher who is not a perfectionist﹣someone who can take criticism and has learned from his or her mistakes.Share your goals and achievements with him or her,no matter how small they are
●Pay attention to your language
Cut out the words like never, always and should from your self﹣talk,Carry a notebook and take notes whenever you want to say these words.Realizing this means you're well on your way to changing them.
