The Internet is often used to buy and sell products, pay bills, and communicate with people. But how safe is it when you use the Internet? Our magazine Interactions asked some Internet users about their experiences.

Linda, 29, nurse: I pay all my bills online. One day, I received an email from my bank. It told me that someone was trying to take out money from my account(账号), so I should email my password(密码)to the “bank manager”. I felt something was wrong, so I called my bank and asked about the email. The bank said they never sent it. I realised that someone tried to cheat(欺骗)me of my money. I’ll continue paying my bills this way, but I’ll be more careful.

Emily, 22, office worker: I was at work, and I sent an email to a friend of mine. I was telling her about my problems with Mark, the manager. A few minutes later, a friend of Mark’s came over to my desk. He said, “So you think Mark is too strict?” My face was red. I chose the wrong name on my address list. It was my own fault, so I’ll look over my emails more carefully before I click “Send” next time.

Thomas, 21, university student: I love the Internet! I look up lots of information online. I often buy things on the websites—furniture, clothes, CDs, even foods. I have also sold some of my things on the Internet. I only use the websites I trust and I’ve never had a safety problem.

If you get angry many times in a dayit is time for you to think about how to deal with it. Here are some of my suggestions.

When you are angrytry to tell yourself through another voice that you are angry and that it is not a bad thing. It just shows that you have different ideas. Accept that many things are not 100% right or wrong. In our communication with othersthe final purpose is not to decide who is right and who is wrongbut to look for something in common.

If you still feel strong angertry taking a deep breath(呼吸)and let anger out of your body along with the breath. Don’t say angry words when you are very angryfor you will regret saying them when you cool down.

Discussing with a third party is helpful. It is hard for the two parties in anger to understand each other, but the idea of an outsider can help both parties to get mutual(相互的)understanding.

During their busy lives people do not pay much attention to the expiry dates(有效期)on the food in their fridges. As a resulta lot of food is forgotten about and wasted. However according to a recent research being aware of(意识到)what you throw away can help you waste less.

The researchers measured(计量)food waste from 154 families across the UK. Half of these families in the research were asked to list the fruits and vegetables they had bought and their expiry dates. The families stuck the list on the fridge door and received a text message every day telling them to check it. The other half did not have to make a list and did not receive text messages. Over a six-week period all the families were asked to measure their food waste at the end of each week.

The researchers were surprised to find that making lists and getting texts made little difference to how much food was wasted. However each family in the research wasted less food—about 0.1 kilo a week.

The CWCA has organized experienced caretakers and doctors to go with the pandas to the US. The zoo is getting ready to provide the pandas with a larger and more comfortable living environment. 阅读下列短文,根据短文内容,从题中所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳答案。

Though oceans cover about 71 percent of the earth’s surface, there’s still a lot we don’t know about them. Only about 20 percent of the seafloor has been mapped, and the remaining 80 percent is still a secret to us. Some scientists even think that 91 percent of sea animals have yet to be discovered.

So why do we know so little about the deep sea? Well, getting to those depths is very difficult and requires high technology that simply didn’t come into being for most of human history. The first navigable submarine(可驾驶的潜水艇), for example, was built in 1620, and it couldn’t go more than five meters below the surface. In fact, for a long time many scientists didn’t even think that there could be any life at depths greater than 550 meters and didn’t see much need to explore(探索) the deep sea. However, this changed in 1862 when life was discovered as far down as 945 meters below sea level with the help of a digging machine. Ten years later, around 4, 700 species(物种) unknown before from the ocean floor were discovered.

Since then, high technology has been developed to help explore the deep sea, including satellites. But why is deep-sea exploration still so difficult? Well, at greater depths it is freezing(极冷的), everything is completely dark, and the pressure can be over 1, 000 times greater than that on the surface.

Though we have the difficulties, it’s important that we understand the seas. They help control the earth’s temperature and produce half of the oxygen(O2) in the air. They can also provide us with information about climate change. Our future depends on learning more about our oceans, and it is possible for us to really understand what is ongoing below the surface.

(1)Why are some numbers listed in Paragraph 1?

A.

To introduce how important oceans are.

B.

To discuss why sea animals have yet to be found out.

C.

To explain that oceans cover a large area of the earth.

To show that we have only a little understanding of oceans.

(2)What caused the change of exploration into the deep sea?

A.

(3)What does the underlined word “They” in the last paragraph refer to?

A.

Sea animals.

B.

C.

(4)What can we learn from the text?

A.

It is difficult to build a navigable submarine.

B.

The seas have a strong influence on our future.

C.

The seas have no lives at a depth of 550 meters.

D.

It is easier to go into the deep sea than we think.

(5)What could be the best title of the text?

If sports are something that interests you, you must want to know how to be good at them. Succeeding at a sport takes skill. 1 Skill alone may take you far, but you’ll never go all the way without the right attitude and team spirit. The following tips can help you be a better sports player

Join a sports team. If you’re interested in sports, joining a team is a good way to start. 2 You are likely to develop friendships with at least some of your team members. Besides, even if your skills are low, joining a team will improve your skills.

Set big but realistic现实的goals for yourself. This does not mean being unrealistic, or saying you’re going to go professional within a year. Instead, you should take a look at what you are, and decide where you think you would like to be. 3

Be a good sport. Being good at sports means more than physical strength and speed. 4 If you fail in a match, accept the loss and show respect to other players for their victory. Treat loss as a learning experience. Find out what you did wrong, and then try to improve it for the next game.

5 It’s possible to get so crazy about winning that you forget why you want to be good at the very beginning. Not taking the time to enjoy the sport you play results in a fast burnout. Whether you’re practising or playing a competition, remember it is the joy that matters.

A. Let yourself have fun.

B. Stay focused on the competition.

C. Exercising with others is very enjoyable and encouraging.

D. In order to be truly great, you need to be positive towards failure.

E. Break a big goal down into small parts, and achieve them step by step.

And sugar, the precious product once only served to the emperors and princes, also went into common people’s homes. With the cultural and economic经济的development of Song and Yuan Dynasties, people became less interested in only tasting sweetness. In the Ming Dynasty, some people added pictures with good luck into the bowl of sugar, and sugar painting appeared.

Sugar painting is different from normal painting. Sugar painters use syrup糖浆as the material, a spoon as the “paintbrush”, and a smooth table as the “paper”. To make syrup, they have to make sugar hot before painting. Since syrup may become hard if it cools, the painters have to produce the work very quickly. They move the spoon full of syrup up and down, left and right. Soon a sugar painting is done.

However, it’s a pity that this folk art is dying recently. The sugar painting that used to be rich in shapes has become poorer and poorer because of fewer needs. What’s worse, few people seem to be willing to pass on the art except those aging sugar painters.

For most people, painting is a kind of art and difficult to understand. However, sugar painting has pulled the art down into people’s daily lives. Through it, we may see the spiritual support of the ancient people across centuries. Now, sugar painting has been listed as an intangible cultural heritage非物质文化遗产in China. Therefore, the art should be remembered, missed and passed on.
