Here are 7 signs that can be taken as warning and could help avert(避免) a catastrophic situation:
1.   The most common warning sign of a heart attack is the feeling of discomfort or heaviness in the chest. This feeling could also be more of a burning sensation. Any of these symptoms should not be taken lightly, and if it occurs more than once, you need to rush to your doctor. If another person is complaining of the problem, chances are they have experienced the feeling before and are only expressing it now. So, rush them to the nearest doctor or hospital immediately for a check-up.
2. Shortness of Breath
If your breathing gets heavy and the breath falls short even after a short walk, climb or other form of movement or exercise,          Even if this condition is not accompanied with chest discomfort, it should be taken as a warning sign.
3. Sweating
Whilst sweating is inevitable in the scorching(灼热的) heat of May and June, excessive sweating even in cool conditions is uncalled for.
4. Nausea(恶心)
Regularly feeling nauseous of dizzy could imply the onset(发作) of a heart attack. Do not treat is callously(麻木不仁地) as a sign of tiredness. This could happen due to the artery(动脉) getting blocked. It could also display itself via excessive stress, fatigue after short spans of movement or exercise, or a feeling of weakness despite eating and sleeping well.
5. Numbness(麻木) in Arms
If your arms feel numb and seem to be drifting to the sides, heart problem may be the cause.
6. Unresponsiveness
If certain parts of your body begin to stop responding,         The affected parts may be the shoulders, arms or back of the neck.
7. Slurring(含糊不清) while Speaking
Difficulty while speaking need not necessarily occur after a bout of drinking with the buddies. It could be a graver situation than that! Inability to speak coherently could be the sign of a great attack. If you think you are suffering this ask a friend or relative to help by asking them to understand what you are saying.
A heart attack can be avoided if the warning signs are read correctly and in time.         They could be the result of a choked artery(动脉). Even If heart attack is not the result, a check-up should definitely not be avoided! Take care!

A.it should be a wave of happiness
B.do not ignore the circumstance.
C.Discomfort in the Chest
D.it should be a huge cause of worry.

E. do not ignore the result.
F. Seek medical aid immediately if one or more of the above symptoms are noticed.
G. If you notice such sweating, consult a medical professional immediately.

A. Sitting at the back means fewer food options.
B. Flight attendants get paid only for flight hours.
C. Flight attendants’ job is to keep passengers safe.
D. Flight attendants might water down your drinks.
E. Flight attendants are trained to identify criminals.
F. The seat-belt sign is “on” far longer than necessary.
Things An Air Hostess Won't Tell You
To make things a bit easier for them and ensure a smooth flight, many Flight attendants have little tricks under their sleeves. Here are some of them which they won't tell you out of sheer politeness.
__________
Contrary to what most people think, a flight attendant's primary job is to ensure your safety - the helping and serving part of their job are just add-ons. If they are assisting you with your luggage, it is to make sure it is stored properly and does not harm anyone. They are not required to lift your bags or help you take them elsewhere. All the other assistance, such as providing you with a drink, handing you hot towels, etc., are to make sure you stay calm and satisfied.
__________
As unfair as it may seem, the time that a flight attendant spends in getting the plane ready, settling you down, etc., is not included in their salary. They do, however, receive some expense allowance(津贴) for the entire time they clock in - it is a pretty small income though
__________
If a flight attendant feels a passenger is ordering too many drinks, and getting drunk, they might avoid serving him/her by avoiding eye contact. When that fails, they might just fill the glass half-way or give him/her a diluted (稀释的) drink
__________
A number of training programs and workshops exist to train flight attendants in different aspects. As some people are using flights more and more to smuggle (走私), flight attendants are being regarded as the first line of defense against this heinous (邪恶的)crime. The benefits are already evident - a number of dangers are avoided, thanks to alert(警惕的) flight attendants on board.
__________
This is a bit unfortunate for those sitting at the back of the plane, but nevertheless true. As the attendants start serving from the front of the plane to the back, the variety of drinks or meals might go down. This is because a plane has limited space, only a certain number of items can be stored, and by the time they get to the back of the plane, they run out of at least a few of the options.

There is distinction between reading for information and reading for understanding.
The first sense is the one in which we read newspapers, magazines, or anything else.     Such materials may increase our store of information, but they cannot improve our understanding. And clearly we don’t have any difficulty in gaining the new information, for our understanding was equal to them before we started. Otherwise, we would have felt the shock of puzzlement.
The second sense is the one in which we read something that at first we do not completely understand. Here the thing to be read is at the first sight better or higher than the reader. The writer is communicating something that can increase the reader’s understanding.    Otherwise one person could never learn from another. Here “learning” means understanding more, not remembering more information.
What are the conditions in this kind of reading? First, there is inequality in understanding.    Besides, his book must convey something he possesses and his potential readers lack. Second, the reader must be able to overcome this inequality in some degree. And he should always try to reach the same level of understanding with the writer. If the equality is approached, success of communication is achieved.
It is the least demanding and requires the least amount of effort. Everyone who knows how to read can read for entertainment if he wants to. In fact, any book that can be read for understanding or information can probably be read for entertainment as well.

A.Thus, we can employ the word “reading” in two distinct senses.
B.Such communication between unequals must be possible.
C.We can get access to the content of those materials easily.
D.The writer must be “superior” to the reader in understanding.

E. The writer should have a better communicating skill.
F. Besides gaining information and understanding, there’s another goal of reading—entertainment.
G. Reading for entertainment is capable of increasing our understanding for information.

Stay on the brighter side of life
One very important component of optimism is gratitude or feeling grateful. In fact, there is a strong connection between a grateful attitude and a heightened sense of well-being. Appreciate all the positives in your life by starting a gratitude journal in order to remember what you’re grateful for. ____
Feeling down? Instead of feeling sorry for yourself waiting for the universe to throw you a bone, try acting like you’re happy—even if you aren’t. A sincere smile and a forced smile will cause the same chemical reactions in your brain, so you can actually fool your mind into feeling better by making it react chemically as if things were going well. ___ Reassure yourself that everything is good— even if you don’t feel it.
“_____ If you’re stuck in traffic, then everything else must be going horribly too,” says Anne Parker, a wellness counselor. By blowing negative events out of proportion, you’re setting yourself up for feeling down all day. Instead, acknowledge that you’re stuck in traffic, but also bring to mind something good, like the beautiful scenery outside the window. That way, you’ll get in the habit of forbidding negative circumstances from blanketing your whole day.
Swearing to lose 20 pounds or to run a marathon seems like goals leading to happiness, but they take time to achieve. ____ You may even end up admitting that you have been defeated. However, if you focus on the small milestones that occur along the way, you will feel positive about your progress, which will give you the strength to keep going.
___ Try making someone else’s day better. A report by United Healthcare and Volunteer Match found that volunteers are 72% more likely to characterize themselves as optimistic compared with non-volunteers. Plus, 89% of volunteers say that volunteering has improved their sense of well-being, and 92% say that it enriches their sense of purpose in life.

A.Try to help someone in need.
B.Want to give your attitude a lift?
C.People tend to think in an either-or way.
D.Act in an optimistic way—smile, laugh, tell a joke.

E. You’ll fail to appreciate more important things in your life.
F. By focusing on not having accomplished them yet, you will start to feel down on yourself.
G. By remembering the pleasant things in your life, you can actually turn a negative attitude around.

探险家Ranulph Fiennes在电视节目中回答了主持人的有关野外求生的5个问题(第1-5题)。 请从下列提问(A,B,C,D,E,和F)中选出与他的回答相匹配的问题。选项中有一项是多余选项。
Questions:
Do you think people should be decisive in the wild?
How to make hunting tools?
Do you think people should send an SOS while they are in danger?
How to make a fire in the wild?
How to set a trap to hunt animals?
How to build a shelter in the wild?
___________
Answer: If you are in a desert environment, try to build an underground shade shelter to avoid prolonged sun exposure, obviously only for hot climates. So you can be more comfortable in cooler temperatures to avoid sweating. If your environment is damp, use branches laid and criss-crossed on top of one another to create a solid and dry foundation for an open bed pad. Raise the foundation above ground level as much as possible.
_________
Answer: Yes, I think so. For example, if you think the best survival course of action is to look for help and civilization, don’t wait 4 or 5 days before you come to this conclusion. Take action on the 1st or 2nd day if possible while you still have strength and endurance working for you.
__________
Answer: Use dry wood and sticks to start your fire. Fire is started by using three kinds of wood: tinder, kindling, and fuel. Tinder is any kind of flammable wood shavings, usually light and wispy. You can take two pieces of dry wood, sharpen one of them and use it to drill into the other piece. Place any highly flammable objects you can find next to the drill bit. The moment the flammable object catches a spark, use a rock to swiftly tip the object onto a nest of leaves and little branches.
__________
Answer: Get an ordinary block of wood and hit it with a rock repeatedly until the wood sharpens. In this case, use the rock as your sharpener. You could also take a rock and break off some of the edges and then use another rock and some water like a wet stone and sharpen. In an ideal situation, obsidian stone would be used for its infamous sharpness.
____________
Answer: Use two more sticks to hold up a “teepee”, similar to your shelter. Place an item of your choice you think an animal will come after, if you’re lucky, the animal will be trapped. Dig a hole in the ground about 2m-3m deep and 1m-2m across. Take two thin branches and place them criss-crossed across the hole. Cover it with leaves and put something the animals like to eat. You can also put a few wooden spikes sharpened by your knife at the bottom. Don’t forget to build a ladder or you might not be able to climb out of the hole.

A. New teachers’ opinions of involving parents
B. An argument over an assignment
C. A conflict between assumption and reality
D. Difficulties in sharing goals
E. The best way to score high
F. Proper ways of parental involvement
_______ An Iowa high school counselor gets a call from a parent protesting the “C” her child received on an assignment. “The parent argued every point in the essay,” recalls the counselor, who soon realized why the mother was so disappointed about the grade. “It became apparent that she’d written it. ”
_______ In a survey, 90% of new teachers agreed that involving parents in their children’s education is a priority at their school, but only 25% described their experience working with parents as “very satisfying”. When asked to choose the biggest challenge they face, 31% of them quoted involving parents and communicating with them as their top choice. 73% of new teachers said too many parents treat schools and teachers as enemies.
_______ At a time when competition is rising and resources are limited, when battles over testing force schools to adjust their priorities, when cell phones and e-mail speed up the information flow and all kinds of private ghosts and public quarrels slip into the parent-teacher conference, it’s harder for both sides to step back and breathe deeply and look at the goals they share.
_______ Everyone says the parent-teacher conference should be pleasant, civilized, a kind of dialogue where parents and teachers build partnership. But what most teachers feel, and certainly what all parents feel, is anxiety and panic.
_______ When a teacher asks parents to be partners, he or she doesn’t necessarily mean Mom or Dad should be camping in the classroom. Research shows that though students benefit modestly from having parents involved at school, what happens at home matters much more. According to research based on the National Education Longitudinal Study, a sample of nearly 25,000 eighth graders, among four main areas of parental involvement (home discussion, home supervision, school communication, and school participation), home discussion was the most strongly related.

People need homes: children assume their parents' place as home; boarders call school "home" on weekdays; married couples work together to build new homes; and travelers … have no place to call "home", at least for a few nights.     ? Don’t they have the right to a home? Of course they do.
Some regular travelers take their own belongings: like bed sheets, pillowcases and family photos to make them feel like home no matter where they are; some stay for long periods in the same hotel and as a result become very familiar with service and attendants;      . Furthermore, driving a camping car during one’s travels and sleeping in the vehicle at night is just like home -- only mobile!
And how about keeping relationships while in transit?   ; some send letters and postcards, or even photos; others may just call and say hi, just to let their friends know that they're still alive and well. People find ways to keep in touch. Making friends on the way helps travelers feel more or less at home.       .
Nowadays, fewer people are working in their local towns, so how do they develop a sense of belonging? Whenever we step out of our local boundaries, there is always another "home" waiting to be found.       , we can make the place we stay "home".

A.Hostels provide a clean safe place to stay while you are travelling the world
B.others may simply put some flowers by the hotel window to make things more homely
C.Backpackers in youth hostels may become very good friends, even closer than siblings(手足)
D.So how about people who have to travel for extended periods of time

If something that you're doing doesn't challenge you, then it doesn't change you. We all need some normal stress in our lives, after all. So challenge the following limits:
1. Figure out what you're scared of and do it continuously.
If you're a salesman, and you're scared of talking to people personally or over the phone, now, instead of being scared and thinking you’ll fail, spend at least five minutes a day to pick up the phone and make a call. But don't stop on the first try! Eventually, you can look at fear in the eyes and say, "Go on, I'm not scared!"
2.
Make sure this hobby is not linked to your career; you have to relax and relieve your stress while performing this. Some examples might be cooking, sewing, painting and so on. Apart from helping you challenge yourself, taking a class for your hobby may also give you extra income.
3.Set aside at least nine minutes a day for physical exercise.
A simple 9-minute run around your neighborhood can do wonders for yourself.Exercise can not only help you maintain your regular weight, but also make you feel better about yourself.
4.Travel and allow yourself to be interested in new people.
Don't just limit yourself to your fellow travelers - try to connect with the service staff. You never know what kind of people they're going to be. Get out of your house or go online right now to book your class.

A 2011 Ohio State University study found that undergraduates who viewed an episode of Sex and the City were more than twice as likely to talk to their partners about sexual-health issues.
ER ____________
ER did more than make George Clooney a superstar. It also changed the way America ate. In three 2004 episodes, the show focused on the doctors' orders for a teenager with high blood pressure: exercise, and eat more fruits and vegetables.
