One day, an expert in time-management was speaking to a group of business students. To make the point , he used an illustration.
As he stood in front of the group, he said, “Okay, time for a quiz.” He then pulled out a wide-mouth jar and set it on the table. Then he    2    placed about a dozen fist-sized rocks, one by one, into the jar.
When the jar was filled to the    3    and no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, “Is this jar    4  ?” Everyone in the class said, “Yes.”
“Really?” Then he    5   under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel(沙砾,石子),dumped some in and   6   the jar, causing pieces of gravel to work themselves down into the space    7   the big rocks. “No,” the speaker replied, “The truth it teaches us is that you will    15    get them in at all if you don’t put the big rocks in first.    16    the big rocks in your life are, do things that you love and    17   for yourself. So, tonight, or in the morning, when you are   19    on this short story, ask yourself what are the ‘big rocks’ in your life? Then put those in your    20    first.”

Always Changing

Mark is leaving, and I’m feeling kind of sad.
You probably don’t know Mark, but you might be lucky enough  36  someone just like him. He’s been the heart and soul of the office for a couple of years combining  37  professional skills with a sweet and gentle nature.
And now he’s moving on to an exciting new professional  38  . It sounds like it could be the chance of a lifetime, and we’re  39  for him. But that doesn’t make it any easier to say goodbye to him.
Life has a way of throwing these curve(曲线)balls  40  us. Just when we start to get comfortable with a person, a place or a situation, something comes along to   41  the recipe.
Our ability to cope with change  42  to a great degree, our peace, happiness and contentment in life.
But how do we do that? A friend of mine is fond of reminding us that“survivability depends upon  43  .”And then there’s Chris the California surf-rat, who once told me that the answer to life’s problems can be  44  in four words:“Go with the flow.”
I’m not exactly sure , but I think Chris was saying that life is a series of   45  —both good and bad . No matter how excellent your skill , there will always be life-influencing factors over which you have no  46  . The truly successful person expects the unexpected, and is prepared to    47  adjustments should the need arise-as it almost  48  does.
That doesn't mean you don't keep trying to make all your  49  come true.It just means that when things come up that aren't  50  in your plan, you work around them—and then you move on。
“Change, indeed,is painful,  51  ever needful,”said philosopher Thomas Carlyle.“And if memory has its force and worth,so also has  52  .”
we're going to miss Mark. But rather than stay on the  53  of our parting,we'll focus on our hopes for a brighter future-for him,and for us.And then we'll go out and   54
everything we can to make that future happen.  55  our plans change--again.

The Price of a Dream
I grew up poor, living with my wonderful mother. We had little money but plenty of love and attention.  I was   36   and energetic. I understood that no matter how poor a person was, he could still   37  a dream.
My dream was to be a sportsman.   38   I was sixteen, I had started playing baseball. I could throw a ninety-mile-per-hour fastball and hit anything that moved on the football field.  I was also   39  . My high-school coach was Ollie Jarvis, who not only believed in me, but taught me  40  to believe in myself. He   41  me the difference between having a dream and realizing the dream. One particular   42   with Coach Jarvis changed my life forever.
It was the summer between my junior and senior years, and a friend recommended (推荐) me for a summer job. This meant a chance for money in my pocket—money for a new bike and new clothes, and the   43   of savings for a house for my mother. Then I realized I would have to   44   summer baseball to deal with the work schedule, and that meant I would have to tell Coach Jarvis I wouldn’t be playing.
When I told Coach Jarvis, he was as   45   as I expected him to be.  “You have your whole life to work,” he said.  “Your playing days are limited. You can’t   46   to waste them.” I stood before him with my head hanging, trying to think of the   47   that would explain   48   him why my dream of buying my mom a house and having money in my pocket was worth facing his   49  in me.
“How much are you going to make at this job, son?” he asked. “Three twenty-five an hour,” I replied.
“Well,” he asked, “is $3.25 an hour the   50   of a dream?”
That simple question made it   51   to me the difference between   52   something right now and following a dream. I   53   myself to sports that summer, and within the year I was   54   by the Pittsburgh Pirates to play baseball, and was   55  a $20,000 contract. In 2000, I bought my mother the house of my dream!

But at some point we need to make sure that our       are the same as our friends’ expectations. The sharing of      experiences including our tears as well as our dark dreams is the surest way to        friendships. But it must be done slowly and      only if there are signs of interest and action      .
What are some of the     of friendship? The greatest is the attraction to expect too much too soon. Deep relationships      time. Another “main difficulty” is the selfishness to think one “       ” the other, including his time and attention.    , friendships require actions in return.
