One day,a baby snail(蜗牛)found that he had to carry a big and heavy shell at any time.He was confused(困惑的),so he went up to his mother and asked,"Why was I born with a shell that grew so hard and heavy?"His mother said,"Because we don't have bones to hold us up.We can only move slowly,so we need a shell to protect us."
The baby snail asked again,"The caterpillar(毛毛虫)has no bones, either, and she can't move quickly. Why can she live without a shell?"The mother snail answered,"That's because a caterpillar will become a butterfly(蝴蝶).She can fly high into the sky.The sky can protect her.
The baby snail had one more question,"But the earthworm(蚯蚓)moves like us.He has no bones and he won't turn into a butterfly. Why doesn't he carry a hard and heavy shell?"His mother said,"He can dig a hole and hide in the ground, and then the earth can protect him."
The baby snail then cried,"We are so poor!We have no protection from the sky or from the ground!"His mother smiled at him,"That's why we have a shell. My dear, imagine that if we don't have the shells, what will happen to us?Hot sun will dry out our bodies and we'll have nowhere to sleep. What's more,we'll die in the heavy rain. How terrible it is!We don't depend on the sky or the ground for protection. We should depend on ourselves."

The only difference is that parents get paid and children don't.Parents say that they make their kids do housework to teach them responsibility. But this is just a trick.Parents trick their kids into doing housework because they are lazy. I was a schoolgirl in Grade 7when Danny came to my school and became one of my classmates. He was handsome with blond hair.so many girls in my class liked him very much.Every day,his parents picked him up in an old car.We all realized he was from a poor family.I had a poor family as well, but I just hid it from everyone.I was afraid the kids in my class would leave me if they knew the truth.

It's sad to learn that a whale has died in the ocean. However, that is not the end for the whale. It gives a lot to other sea animals after death.
When a whale dies, it quickly drops to the bottom of the ocean floor. There the whale's dead body provides food and nutrients(营养) for deep sea animals. The remains(残髓) can last(持续) for ten years and build an ecosystem called a whale fall ﹣ an "oasis(绿洲)" of life in the deep sea.
Chinese scientists found a whale fall for the first time in the South China Sea this year. The whale fall ecosystem can stay in the deep ocean because of great pressure and cold temperature there. They can stop the body from decomposing(分解) too quickly. The depth(深度) makes it hard for scientists to find the whale fall There are less than 50 known whale falls in the world.
The whale fall in the South China Sea is about three meters long.Scientists have found several species(物种) near the whale fall. Some fish have started to eat the whale's tail. A scientist named Xie Wei says the whale fall might be quite recent and needs long﹣term observation(观察). By studying the whale fall, scientists can better understand how sea ecosystems support life.

The People's Bank of China will come out the fifth edition(版本)of the renminbi(RMB) from August 30, 2019. These banknotes(纸币)will have brighter colors and new security features(防伪特征).
We've been using banknotes for around 1,000 years. Back in the Northern Song Dynasty,Chinese people made the worlds earliest paper money to replace(代替) metal coins. These banknotes were called jiaozi.
Paper money is cheaper to make and easier to carry. These advantages made it more popular than other forms of money. But now, in the digital (数码的)age, paper money seems to be disappearing for the same reason.
China seems to be heading towards becoming a cashless(不用现金的) society. From supermarkets to street stores, people pay by using the We Chat Wallet and Alipay apps on their mobile phones. Sweden is even closer to a future without paper money. Many Swedish banks no longer even have cash on hand.
But there are worries about creating cashless societies. Some say it is unfair to the poor and people without much education. It's not easy for them to open bank accounts( 账户)or deal with mobile phones. And if all of your money is"digital, it may not be safe enough.

At many Thanksgiving dinners, everyone around the table shares something they are thankful for. As we know, most can do this easily. It's more important to know how to be thankful people all the time.
Be positive(乐观). No matter what happens, it's best to remember the good things. Find the bright side in bad situations, and push back against negative(负面的) opinions. Also, do your best not to compare yourself to others. But when you're around others, give expression to what you like about them. By keeping good in mind, you'll gibe thanks for it even more than before.
Accept the negative. At the same time, we can't pay no attention to bad things that have happened. We should learn from mistakes. It makes us become strong. Before we know it, we're thankful for negative things, too. Our mistakes can also make us humble(谦逊的), which is not all bad. Humble people have better relationships and see life's blessings(祝福) much more clearly !
Acts of kindness. Thankful people know that it's much better to give than to receive. When you're thankful, you feel it's your duty to show love to others. Some people volunteer to help people in need. Studies show that volunteers might feel happier and healthier.
Use of time. By spending time with others, you show them how much they mean to you. But being thankful is also better realized by spending time alone. When you're alone , you can think about the best parts of your day .You can list them out and think them over. You can find your way to make thanksgiving a part of your life. How wonderful it is! Where can you get beauty, knowledge and insight(深刻的见解) all in one? The answer is probably a museum.
There is a long list of benefits someone can get from going to a museum. However, the best part of museum is they encourage people to become lifelong learners.
Socrates once said, “Wisdom begins in wonder.” Each time you visit a museum, it could spark(激起) an interest in a field you might never have heard before. Every time we go through museum exhibits, we see something we didn’t know anything about. It encourages us to go home and look up more information.
To help students better understand what they have learned in schools, many schools use museums as a tool to add to their curriculum(课程). For example, you may have learned about static(静电) in physics classes. But in a science museum, you can have a more hands-on experience of how amazing static can be. When you touch a big ball full of static electricity, all your hair stands up straight like an angry lion!
In the US, there is the New York Museum Education Act. It says that New York’s museums and schools should become partners to help students prepare for the 21st century. In China, the government asks more schools to organise more museum trips. Earlier this year, the popular travel website Trip Adviser asked its users to rank(评级)theirs favourite museums. They picked the top 25 museums in the world. The first three are: The Metropolitan Museum of Art,New York, US. Musee d’Orsay, Paris, France and the Art Institute of Chicago, US. The Museum of Qin Terracotta Warrior and Horses in Xi’an, Shanxi is the only Chinese museum on the list, which was ranked 23rd.
So come to the museums and there are lots of things to see.

A week before her mother’s birthday, she went shopping after a quick and simple lunch. When she had been looking for half an hour, she found a shop that was selling cheap umbrellas, and decided to take a black one, since her mother had lost hers the month before.
She thought, “You could carry that when you are wearing clothes of any color.” So she decided to buy a lovely black umbrella and took it back to the school with her until her classes were over.
On her way back home in the train that evening she felt hungry because she had such a small lunch that she went along to the dining car for another sandwich and a cup of coffee. She had left the black umbrella above her seat in the compartment(车厢), but when she got back, it had gone! When she had left the compartment, there had been no other passengers (乘客) in it, but now there were three.
Sally began to cry when she saw that the umbrella was no longer there. The other passengers felt very sorry for her and asked what the matter was. She told them that the black umbrella she had bought for her mother was gone, and that she had to get out at the next station. After the three other passengers heard it, they asked her for her mother’s address so that they could send the umbrella to her if someone had taken it by mistake, and brought it back after Sally had got out of the train.
